Chris's story maybe had (a lot) problems due to I not knowing much about the war and how policitian's things work. Hope you guys don't mind, and welcome whoever can help me point out the plot hole
[MortalVerse] Chris's story: What we have from the war
This story was set in a world where humans live with monsters.
Chris with his brother Patrick, two orphan skeleton monsters, attended the military at a very young age. At that, they befriended children like them, two of them were Finn and Clint.
Finn and Clint were identical twins who were adopted sons of politician and scientist Gaxter. He sent them to train in the military which was invested by him.
Being the sons of the investor, the human brothers's relationship with other people was not very good, so Chris and his brother were the only ones who were really close to them. Even so, their starting point was not very good either, especially between Chris and Finn.
At that time, the twins Finn and Clint were really hard to tell apart, except for their hair and eye color, as long as they covered their hair and squinted their eyes, no one would be able to recognize them two. They often used this to make some little troubles, until Chris appeared, the only one could tell the two of them apart at first glance, more precisely, he could tell whether the other party was Finn or not.
With Chris, this joke couldn't be used much, the brothers, or rather only Finn, started to have the mood to tease and pick a fight with Chris, leading to the scene of a black-haired human kid and a skeleton monster kid fighting and then being punished together becoming a normal occurrence at the military, while Clint and Patrick gradually got used to it.
The four of them became close friends, eating, sleeping, and training together. As time passed, the human twins no longer looked exactly alike, and Chris's special feeling of being the only one was gone, making him feel a little regretful.
When they reached adolescence, Chris and Patrick gradually became stronger and became the main force of the army, while Finn and Clint retired, returning home to study and follow in their adoptive father's footsteps.
As the peace period passed, politicians like Gaxter began to order the army to go to war. As the key card, Chris and his brother would of course always be present on the front lines. During this time, Chris kept in touch with Finn through letters. But as time passed and the war became more intense, the letters became less frequent and then stopped.
The battles began to take place closer and closer together, the soldiers had no time to rest, supplies were getting less and less but still there was no order to retreat from their superiors, the atmosphere of despair was overwhelming, no one had the energy to fight anymore, survival was the only thing they needed to do. Even someone full of energy like Patrick gradually felt confused about the following days.
Chris kept contacting the rear to ask about the order to retreat, but the answer was always a refusal. Until one day he caught a member of the enemy side, he found out that their current situation was the will of the politicians, there was no war at all, they wanted to use the army as a threat for the enemy to hand over what they wanted. In other words, the army was a sacrifice for the politicians.
Angry, Chris quickly returned to tell everyone, then led a group to quietly desert and find a way back to the city. Losing a group of soldiers and two key troops, the battle immediately turned to the enemy side, and their wanted order was immediately announced.
Evading the wanted order from the government, Chris's group gradually became rebels, wanting to expose the government's intentions and prevent the war. But although their uprising had some effect, it still did not do anything. At this moment, Finn came to find them.
Because of his hatred for politicians, especially Gaxter, Chris didn't think too well of Finn at that time, the others also knew that Finn was Gaxter's son, so their welotherto him was quite painful. But thanks to Patrick, Finn finally expressed his intentions.
The human brothers were also very opposed to Gaxter's goals and methods, so they went to the rebels, Finn volunteered to be a hostage for them to extract information of Gaxter from him, and Clint still stayed by Gaxter’s side to get some news from the government.
After a while of discussion, Chris's group finally accepted his deal, although the way they treated Finn was not better much, except for Patrick of course. After that, Finn tried to mend his relationship with Chris, after a long process of chasing, talking, arguing, and fighting like when they were children, a black-haired human and a skeleton monster finally kissed each other under the misty rain.
With Finn's participation, the rebels's struggles became much more favorable. Not only with information from Clint, with the knowledge that Finn had learned and Chris's leadership ability, their struggles gradually had a great impact on the government.
In the final plan, they planned to rush in and capture Gaxter, an important member of the government. The break-in at that time needed Finn to lead the way, so they separated in two, by the time Chris and everyone else arrived, Gaxter was lying in a pool of blood, the gun in Finn's hand was still smoking, his face was calm, his red squinted eyes shifted from Gaxter's corpse to Chris's incredulous face.
Politician and scientist Gaxter died due to the break-in of the rebels, his adopted son, Finn, would be his successor. That information was quickly announced, Finn's face also appeared many times in the media. He began to propose the abolition of the war and the care of the army, reducing the severity of the rebels wanted order.
Finn gradually took over all of Gaxter's previous work, including the previous reason for the war. He contacted the enemy faction, inviting them to talk about the previous deal with Gaxter as his successor. The conversation was held in secret, with only one enemy representative and a few bodyguards present, Finn only brought one person, Chris.
No one knew how the deal went, the people later only received news that everyone in that meeting had died, including Finn, and the culprit was Chris. Chris's wanted order was immediately announced everywhere with great seriousness.
Clint quickly took over Finn's work, having Chris as their shared enemy, he immediately proposed a peace negotiation with the enemy faction. The other knew clearly that something was wrong but could not help but accept it, the person who was killed was their key member. Finn's life and his, this action of Clint's side was not only humiliating himself but also a threat to them, the enemy side finally had to sign a peace treaty, ending the meaningless war.
After achieving peace, Clint with the help of Patrick and the military, tried to reform the government and rebuild the country.
Rewind to the day before the transaction took place, Finn and Clint found a way to end the war and Gaxter's old plan. After a while of arguing, Clint finally accepted that sacrificing Finn's life was the only way to force the enemy side to surrender. The person chosen to be the murderer was Chris, Finn chose him, and he also nominated himself, he wanted to be the one to kill Finn, and Finn also wanted to use his life to deeply engrave in Chris's life.
After killing Finn, Chris kissed him one last time, brought the golden locket he gave him, followed the path they had laid out, fled to a remote place with a new identity, ignoring the arrest warrant and the country's next developments. He lived an empty life until Soleil came, brought him away from that world and starting a new life.

Unlike deities, nature guardians and others mythical creatures who existed even before the appearance of the mortals and lived separately from them, the guardian brothers, or to be more precise, the soul was given to them, it existed by the mortals and for the mortals.
Long long ago, when first people came to this land, they prayed to the gods and deities for the blessing in peace. A girl volunteered to dedicate herself, sitting at the shrine every moment, eating the wind and drinking the dew, keeping her mind and soul all for the gods, constantly prayed to hear their voices. Other villagers also gradually saw her as an intermediary to send their prayers.
But her mortal body could not last long, so as not to interrupt the prayer process, she transferred her soul to another person, and then let her body become one with the land. Later, the villagers discovered that the person who received the soul could remember everything and had the same dedication in the previous life, and where the other girl's body laid also grew a big tree which even in a storm or drought, it still remained green and steady.
They thought that their prayer had come true, that the girl's soul had become the embodiment of the gods, so they began to worship it and built a temple around the tree.
As time passed, as people's worship increased, that soul was transferred to many people, each person's life was gradually extended until immortality, and passed on to the two current children.
That divine soul was created through the prayers and strong faith of the villagers, it also lived to serve the villagers as they wished. Therefore, in the eyes of the other primitive gods and deities, the appearance of it was an insult to them . So every time the brothers came to negotiate, they usually didn't give a good attitude, mostly pitying them, Soleil couldn't stand that treating, so Nyx was usually the one who went to meet them.
After the Reversed Sacrifice, the tree always remained steady had finally collapsed since its soul had been fully transferred to Soleil, who then couldn't be underestimated anymore.
Some prior informations about the others's stories in Mortalverse:
Cross will come from a alt version of Xtale (like everyone else), there still be Frisk Chara and Gaster but the story will be different (a lot), and Cross & Frisk will be canon (in their past)
Color and Killer will be together (in the romantic way or not)
Error Geno Fresh will be brothers, ofc hhhh
Ink won't be a AUs guardian as this is just a Verse of mortals, there is no danger from outside (just inside)
As I said, this MortalVerse is where I create everything I enjoy, include shippings and my own headcanons, so for the original's sake, their stories will be changed a lot (such as CrossFrisk, I can't lie myself about their original relationship)
