A couple of my skulls with flowers.
Update on the Grey Kangaroo: The maggot mess died down, and we collected all the bones that we could. It was late and raining so it was a bit of a mess. Next step is to sort the bones and clean them up.
Update! @my-shadow-has-bones' and @bunnysbonesandroses' Eastern Grey Kangaroo.
Macro photography adventures from an insect collection day at the creek. The insects (and one arachnid) pictured are a grasshopper, an assassin bug, a moth, and a jumping spider.
Bunny and I also collected a variety of damselflies, dragonflies, and a couple of butterflies. An update on these will be posted when they are set.
Update on the Grey Kangaroo from a few days ago. This is only five days of decomposition later. The conditions in my area have been ideal for decomposition and the maggot mass on these bones is unbelievable. All being well, they should be able to go into degreasing buckets in the next day or so. I am currently waiting for the maggot levels to subside.
A quite badly damaged Wallaby skull I recently cleaned up. The Wallaby appears to have been quite young when it died.
Hello everybody! I’m currently new to bone collecting, vulture culture, taxidermy, etc and would like to get some of those topics on my blog! Could you please reblog if you post any of the below so I can check out your blog and follow? Thank you!
Anything about bones (collecting, anatomy, etc) Taxidermy
Vulture Culture
Scavenging
Anything relating to the topics above
Male Eastern Grey Kangaroo. @my-shadow-has-bones found him and brought him home (inadvisably, in the boot of her hatchback). He was bloating, so we cut him open in order to fit him into our decomposition box. We might have gotten a little bit carried away with our curiosity. A further update will be posted at @morticiansmolderingrose (Kitten’s and my collab blog).
I have recently begun articulating a skeleton of a ringtail possum. This guy, who I have nicknamed ‘little buddy’ was found by my partner and I on one of our outings and seems to have fallen from a tree.
These photos were taken after the decomposition process. It was then put in a bucket of water for about 3 weeks in order to free up all the bones and remove the leftover skin, fat and fur.
I will post updates as I continue progress.
First vulture culture blog post! Photos taken by me. These photos are all taken in the archives of the Queensland Museum where I volunteer.
