British artist Jane Perkins uses all sorts of small, found plastic objects and a glue gun to create awesome assemblage pieces. Jane calls herself a âre-makerâ for the way she repurposes everyday objects such as toys, shells, buttons, beads, jewelry, curtain hooks, springs, and so on. It doesnât matter what the objects are, as long as theyâre the right size, shape, and colour.
The three beautiful pieces seen here are from her current series, entitled Plastic Classics, for which âOld Masters are given a contemporary twist.â
"Impressionist paintings are the perfect inspiration for my work. It needs to be viewed in two ways (as in Impressionism) - from a distance to make sense of the whole image, and close up to identify the materials used (the brush strokes)."
