generated structures in minecraft intrigue me. like yes there are villages obviously supposed to be made by villagers, but what about ocean monuments? strongholds? sunken ships? desert pyramids, woodland mansions, temples covered in vines and moss in the jungle, empty mineshafts with the occasional, still burning torch? lonely wells surrounded by nothing but sand, sun and cactus? did the villagers build all those and just…. leave them? where do “normal” looking zombies come from if zombie villagers look different? skeletons? who builds nether fortresses? are you really alone in your world, or is someone, or something hiding?

i always liked to think that the generated structures were the last remaining evidence of a wiped out species of human, of which the player is the last. it's been long enough since the extinction event that the world has mostly regrown back to it's natural state and a new species of human (villagers) has evolved to fill the niche that the player’s people once occupied. zombies look like players because they once were, and villagers can become zombified because they are genetically similar enough to “players.” the apocalypse that left you the player alone in your world threatens to end villager civilization, too.

#one last soul stranded at home #you're from a more advanced world so you take care of the villagers #and live amongst but not exactly with them #at least that's what i always do #one reason i really like 1.14 is that villagers really do make minecraft feel less lonely/empty
