Ferapontovo. I should state that clearly enough, as a counterlight shooting here is a challengeable job, early – before sunset – arrival is the only way to take a good landscape series. The monastery is situated on a hill, so sun would hit through all of your lenses with no remotest possibility to escape it. Transient clouds sometimes provide a kind of shade shelter, but a white balance would be objectionable anyway. As we arrived at the spot at 14 o’clock, nature provided us with no other options, but using either cloud shades or ND filters up to 400th with aperture values like f13 in order to avoid overexposure. If your main objective is the landscape/panoramic shooting, including architectural, then while mapping out your trip it would be preferable to visit Ferapontovo first – in the morning – delaying Kirillov for the midday, since in Kirillov landscape views are so-so, the architecture is not only the must, but also the only object.

Borisovo-Sudskoye, august 2017. The weather didn’t favour us, so I can present what I have only. Later this year, if an occasion turns up, another attempt will be made to take evening and morning shots from the preplanned observation spots.

Just another attempt to improve older shots. Earlier versions of the same panoramas were deleted.

A lucky moment. It was the last thunderstorm of that year, the last droplets still kept falling down, I even had to use an umbrella to cover my camera.

1. Aperture f11, shutter speed 1/13s, CPL+probably, gradient grey filter, I'm unsure though.

2. The same aperture and shutter speed, CPL+gradient orange filter. Resonance value is negative here, so it looks a bit greyish.

Aperture f11, shutter speed 1/2s, CPL+skylight L1A. That's an excellent spot to take 180° panoramic images, just drive 100 m northwards.

Belated spring. Actually, it’s already time for summer to set in, but we haven’t felt any indications of its approach. As you can see in these panoramas.

A series of panoramas taken this winter from the future church hill. Actually this place still has no name, sometimes it is called “The Green house hill”, however this name would inevitably cause bewilderment in English-speaking minds.
