Is It Rocket Science?
Amateur Rocketry Journal Entry #1
Estes Riptide- First launch: Engine C6-5 Ā -subsequent C11-5 (C11-7 might be better for future launches, though I do not foresee many launches with the Estes Riptide as it comes pre-assembled and I will require future models which I will be able to build and learn from, myself).
-I ordered some engines to experiment with C6-5, C11-5 (hypothesizing the parachute will deploy too early as the C11-5 engine, in theory will not have reached it's apogee due to stronger upward thrust and same 'chute delay as the C6-5 which was recommended by the Estes web site. May cause damage to fins or other upon impact with ground. Expecting a hard decent)
-Model Rocket kit and engines ordered from Belleville Hobby on June 26 2020. Advised, allow 21 business days for delivery.
Working toward constructing and launching (with a successful landing), high powered rocket (Level 1) at such event where it is authorized through Tripoli Rocketry Association prefecture #24 in Nevada. -Purpose to achieve Level 1 Rocketry Certification.
-Level 1 allows the purchase and use of H and I impulse class motors; solid and hybrid. Certain F and G motors may also require Level 1 certification for purchase and use. *https://www.nar.org/high-power-rocketry-info/level-1-hpr-certification/
7/10/2020 (First Official Entry as science journal. Had previously (late June) contacted Larry Johnson via e-mail (Tripoli Membership at Prefecture #24) and have received no response. -Today contacted Bernie Lucido (Tripoli Prefect at Prefecture #24) in order to inquire about membership via e-mail. Let's see how this goes I guess. All e-mail correspondence āon fileā via [redacted]
I will be updating more as I am able to begin work on my first high powered rocket
