10 FANFICTION QUESTIONS
what’s your favourite genre to write?: Angst, yearning, all of that stuff that comes before the moment when the two characters ultimately admit their feelings/decide to be together. I like the journey, not the destination.
do you pull inspiration from real-life, or do you pull things from other books/fanfiction you’ve read?: I think experiences do help us understand how characters react in many situations but most of what I pull is from what I read or see in movies, tropes and archetypes that I gravitate to, and I often think over how to subvert those things. Scenarios are my favorite instances to craft and this is where I get creative.
do you tend to write one-shots, short stories, or longer things?: One-shots or multi-shots are easier for posting but in my experience, I’ve attempted many multi-chapter fics that I haven’t gotten around to posting. I hope to do so soon as I’m working on one right now.
do you prefer to write description or dialogue?: As far as the writing goes, description. Dialogue tends to be the most rewarding when you get it right, though.
favourite fic/book of all time?: I love several and rotate through re-reading sometimes, they’re all in the favorites section of my ff.net account. My favorite book is probably Pride and Prejudice or The Great Gatsby, Phantom is up there too.
favourite trope?: Sun and moon or beauty and the beast type pairings, villains with redemption arcs, hateships that don’t overdose on unhealthy.
are you the kind of person to work on more than one WIP?: Oh yeah. I try not to but I end up abandoning ideas and coming back to them. It always ends up happening.
how long have you been writing for?: Back since I was six years old, I started writing stories about my toys on our family computer (this would be 2004.) Since then I have written on and off for years. I didn’t get around to fanfiction until I was probably in my early teens, though.
do you tend to write more during the morning, afternoon, or evening?: It all depends on the atmosphere and what situation is conductive to writing. The stars have to align. I think all of these times have been restful at various intervals but I’d gravitate to the morning, when it comes to being the most productive.
do you prefer to post and update your WIP chapter by chapter, or do you prefer to wait until your WIP is 100% finished before sharing it?: My strategy depends on what kind of WIP it is. If it’s a multi-shot like Contretemps I definitely post based on chapter-by-chapter, but when the idea is more prolonged and has a solid plot as its spine, I need to be at least 1-2 chapters ahead of myself so I can go back and fix inconsistencies before posting. I never finish something 100% and then post it, as I find that less rewarding and validating.

You’ve heard of one shots, now get ready for none shots! It’s when you think of an idea for a fic and then don’t write it
Mr Bingley: “You seem distracted today, what’s on your mind?”
Mr Darcy:
yo, what popular yalit book fits your vibe? let me know in the tags when you take my quiz
it sucks being the ‘architect’ kind of writer because then you feel you can’t even begin to write anything down until you’ve made an outline and assured yourself of all the little subplots that need to be fleshed out before you start posting...but then you start writing and you constantly change your own fic based on a whim.
I know that quarantine is giving many people time to write/draw a lot of stuff and that's really amazing! Seriously, the fandom content is keeping us sane during these times! But I'm going through the opposite, that is, quarantine murdered my ideas and I know that happened to a lot of people.
So friendly reminder to everyone who isn't able to produce content: It's okay. We're in this together. It sucks that we can't do something productive when we have a lot of free time, but please don't be hard on yourself. This is a very stressful time already, so please don't make yourself more anxious if you're having a writer's/artist's block.
Take care of yourself and stay safe! I love you all! 💛
romantics be just vibing with their herbal teas and concept of yearning
someone please take away phantom of the opera from me
all fanfiction is funnier and sexier and vastly better-written when you read it at three in the morning, in the dark, lying on your side, tucked into bed, with screen rotate turned off. that’s just how it works. that’s just facts.

one day i’ll have connected phantom to every line in the office.
Not to sound Romantic or anything, but I too have a striking fascination with the irrational, the demonic and the grotesque.
yall gotta be nicer about m/f bc sometimes u guys like the blandest gay sutff ive ever seen in my life
gonna add onto this you all gotta stop acting like m/f is just cishet when bisexual people exist and straight trans people exist.
last add on alot of m/f ships of poc or white/poc ship are constantly downplayed for bland white m/m or f/f ships
