Okay, so there's a LOT of awesome behind the scenes content in the Frankenstein (2025) book, but this passage struck me in particular (text below the cut).

It's super fun to hear from actors the effect that being on a well-designed physical set like this can have. I really think it adds something to a performance, something that you just can't get in the same way when actors have to pretend to interact with settings and objects that are CGI'ed in after filming. Also moss!!! Can't go wrong with moss...

"Del Toro wanted moss everywhere [...] so we developed a moss squad for Frankenstein, a combination of our scenic artists and greens."

*The overall effect overwhelmed Jacob Elordi when he entered the set representing the creature's first home.

He declared,

'I've never-and I don't know if I ever will again-gotten to be on sets like the ones Tamara built. There was moss in between the bricks and spiderwebs in the drains, and the drains had running water in them. As an actor, I didn't have to do anything. Her sets helped me be in the creature's world. It was the movie making dream you've had since you were little, and then you walk into the actual set, and you're like, 'Oh my God. I get to do this.'"
