Welcome to Department of Defense AU, a crossover mystery inspired by Myth of the Ink Machine!!!
After a strange disease known as Blot begins spreading throughout the Isles, two completely different groups set out in search of an ancient map (each of them with different missions and purpose) said to lead to the only machine capable of saving the infected.
But as both teams follow the trail, they discover that the monsters the plague created may not be as natural as everyone believed...
and that some heroes are hiding darker secrets than the monsters they fight.

TEAM A:
Cuphead
•Personality
Confident, charismatic and impulsive, Cuphead has always been the first to jump into danger and the last to think about the consequences.
His optimism often borders on recklessness, but beneath his cocky attitude is someone who cares deeply for the people closest to him—even if he rarely knows how to show it.
Since the events surrounding the Devil's Casino, he's become increasingly secretive. While he still jokes to lighten the mood, every decision he makes is haunted by a mistake he refuses to let anyone discover.
How can you explain to a loved one that you killed them?

•Weaknesses

•Current Objective: Deliver the Ink Machine Map//Keep his brother safe.
Mugman
•Personality
Mugman is patient and thoughtful.
While he isn't as impulsive as his brother, he's just as determined once he's made up his mind. Mugman naturally cares for people, often choosing compassion where others would choose suspicion.
Unknown to him, there are gaps in his memory surrounding the events that led to the brothers' contract with the Devil. Although he rarely questions them, those missing pieces occasionally leave him with an unsettling feeling that something isn't quite right.

Puts others before himself//Hesitates when forced to hurt people
•Current objective: Finish the deal they have with Bendy and Boris//Get the map for the celestials//Discover the truth behind the missing pieces of his past.

Bendy
•Personality
Sarcastic and emotionally guarded, Bendy is like a subtle mirror of Cuphead, they're similar somehow.
He cares deeply for the people around him. He often notices emotional struggles before anyone else does, making him surprisingly perceptive despite pretending not to care.
Since contracting Blot, Bendy has become increasingly aware of his own mortality. He rarely talks about it, choosing instead to focus on keeping moving foward to get the map

•Weaknesses:
Avoids talking about his own feelings//Pushes himself despite worsening health//Lies //Frequently hides physical pain
•Current Objective: Reach the Ink Machine before the Blot reaches its final stage.
Boris
•Personality:
Gentle remarkably patient, Boris is the emotional one of the team... he always thinks about others.
He rarely speaks unless he has something meaningful to say, preferring actions over words. Despite his quiet nature, Boris is fiercely protective of those he considers family. Once someone earns his trust, he will stand beside them without hesitation—even when the odds are impossible.
However he still has this self- worth problem. He believes he is not doing enough and maybe if does something wrong everyone will put the blame on him... He still has Bendy, but what would he do once he's all alone? Once his brother is gone?

Places others' safety above his own//Has difficulty expressing his feelings// Can become stubborn when protecting someone//Carries his worries in silence

"Want me to tell you the trouble you caused? People you killed? How many toon have you hurt and left behind during your entire life? You're a murder, demon."
TEAM B: Department of Defense
Leonardo Hamato
•Personality
Leonardo has always been the kind of person who throws himself into responsibility before anyone else has the chance. He's optimistic, outgoing, and surprisingly easy to talk to despite his role as a leader.
Beneath the confidence, however, is someone who constantly wonders if he's doing enough,not because he wants recognition, but because he genuinely believes the people around him deserve someone they can rely on.

Miles (Tails)
•Personality
Despite his age, Tails is one of the brightest minds in the Department.
Calm, analytical, and curious, he's the first to look for a solution instead of a fight. Since Sonic's disappearance, however, that curiosity has been overshadowed by grief.
He throws himself into work to avoid thinking about what happened, often sleeping very little and refusing help whenever someone expresses concern. Although he remains polite and patient, his temper has become much shorter whenever people imply that life should simply move on.
Tails doesn't hate change, but he hates pretending that nothing was lost.
•Mission: Get the ink machine map and investigate the creature responsible for Sonic's disappearance, known only as "The Mother.”

Abner Mouse
•Personality
Abner is endlessly curious. He's the type of person who would rather spend days exploring forgotten tunnels than attend an important meeting.
Quiet by nature, he tends to observe before speaking, but once he decides someone needs help, he's surprisingly stubborn. Many mistake his calm demeanor for naivety. In reality, Abner notices far more than people expect, he simply believes there's good in others until they're given a reason to prove otherwise.
Since Monty's disappearance, however, that optimism has begun to crack.

💛Felix the cat💛
•Personality
Felix is observant, resourceful, and far more patient than most people give him credit for.
Years of investigative work have taught him that the first explanation is rarely the correct one. He trusts evidence over promises and actions over words.
While naturally charismatic, Felix deliberately keeps others at arm's length. The fewer people depending on him, the fewer people he'll disappoint.
