The Real Crisis of Student Debt
The real crisis of student debt is that it keeps young people from connecting with a personal sense of financial autonomy.
As adults, this leads to a docile, disempowered and immature citizenry. When you don't have anything, you have nothing to lose, and this is the attitude with which millions of student debtors enter into adult life.
As a result, student debtors vote differently, they make money differently, and, literally, they have less invested in society as a whole. This is ultimately how the student debt crisis affects all of us, and why this story must be told.
The utter defeat of trying to reason with a student loan operator. Good luck, Brian McAllister.

This is such an amazing mural. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see it at the Detroit Institute of Art.
