This is May skiing in the Tetons, skis/splits on our back for 3 miles of dry trail. Took a little bit to find the snow line, but all of the effort made the turns that much better. (at Jackson Peak)

It's been 20 years since I've floated the Snake River. 20 years ago I was a wee lad on a family vacation visiting Yellowstone and we stopped in some place called Jackson. I honestly don't remember much about the trip but I do remember floating the Snake. It definitely felt familiar except for the cooler full of beer that I don't recall having during that first visit. Thank you GTNP for opening the road up to bikers. Made the summit of Teewinot so much shorter. Fun fact: riding a road bike on ice (this morning) wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. (at Teewinot Mountain)

It hasn't been the greatest touring season but there still have been some good memories and views thus far. And who knows, maybe April will be cold? Here's a photo of the approach to Buck Mountain after a 4am start. We did not ski it this day, so painful. (at Lost in Wyoming)

The snowpack is changing again, making couloir hunting a little sketch right now. We ski cut a 500ft in length chute yesterday and the whole thing went, traveling about 800 ft of loose snow strong enough to knock anyone off their feet. *sigh* Photos like this will be a memory for now. The hardest factor to manage in the backcountry is the human factor. Having a quality, understanding, communicative crew is essential to getting back home safely, but can be hard to find. Just taking 2 minutes to talk about what everyone is thinking makes a huge difference. Here I am talking about our safest option to just get to the base of the couloir, that is right in front of us, not even to ski it yet. (at The Sliver)
