The dry landscape at Village Ralakung.
Ladakh is a high altitude cold desert with precipitation of less than 100mm per year. What this dictates is a completely different type of living and adaptation to a survival strategy. It took thousands of years for the inhabitants to evolve sustainable practices of farming, gathering and social as well which remained unique to the region and some of them being followed till date.
