Spring had never come, even when a young boy grew into a healthy young man. When that young man grew into an old man whose shoulders were crushed under the weight of responsibility, he still waited for the spring to arrive as his hair turned white and his body withered.

Finally, a spring that he had never seen despite the long wait had finally arrived.

Tears welled up in Hyun Jong’s eyes.

The Mount Hua he longed to see. The long-awaited sword of Mount Hua.

Hyun Jong smiled.

The tears didn’t stop, but Hyun Jong smiled. “Mount Hua.”

After enduring and enduring all these harsh years, flowers were finally blooming.

This is a long one but THIS is what separates RotMHS from many other novels. Why so many of us are drawn to it. Mount Hua isn't just Chung Myung's sect. It's Hyun Jong's and Hyun Young, and Hyun Sang, the Un, Baek, and Chung disciple's too. The motif of winter and spring and finally being able to bloom again from the perspective of the sect leader cuts to the heart. Hyun Jong did all that he could and it still wasn't enough. Then this miracle child comes along and upends everything and he gets his hope back. Mount Hua was always here, and he lost his hope and now has it back.

One thing I really admire about RotMHS is that it makes you CARE about the sect. You want these old men to be happy, you want the kids to grow up strong, you WANT those who have suffered for so long to WIN and THRIVE
