like this isn’t a fucking game. people are literally scared of dying, of being deported, or of their families being deported. people are terrified of being put in conversion therapy which is literally fucking torture. people are terrified of being the target of hate crimes fueled by the fact that there’s now a president that thinks the solution to them is to give cops more guns. people are fucking terrified right now and bawling their eyes out because they’re going to lose their medical insurance and their right to their own fucking bodies. disabled people, people of color, lgbt+ people, they’re fucking terrified and some of y’all are still blind enough to think that none of it matters. fuck you. fuck everyone who thinks that none of this is important and that the country is magically going to heal itself after an election this divided.

It Gets Better International

The International Association for Suicide Prevention provides an extensive listing of links available to provide support, information, and resources for LGBTQ+ youth and their supporters.

The Trevor Project has multiple contact venues available to assist those in need, including the Trevor Lifeline (866-488-7386), TrevorText, and TrevorChat.  Also included is a listing of the warning signs, for those who are working to decide if they, or someone they know, are at risk.

Suicide.org  provides links to suicide hotlines for countries worldwide.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides online links to Safety Teams at Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and other social media sites that provide assistance. It also provides advice as to what you can do if you think someone you know online is at risk.

As of tomorrow, please think of Edmund Burke’s quote “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” and remember that you are a good person, and you can do something with all that pent up energy before it turns itself on you. You can join a support group for people of colour, LGBTQ teens, people with disabilities, raped or battered women, Planned Parenthood, homeless people, refugees… You can rally for the next elections in 2018 for the Senate and Congress, and for another president in 2020. You are important, you count, and you don’t have to take this. You can do something.

my significant other is a writer do you have any tips for writers loved ones to help them make sure their writer is taken care of and mused or motivated or things like that so they're comfortable during nano and maybe some help in understanding what to expect?

I’ll leave this open for others to answer as well, but what comes to mind for me is just this:

If you see them writing, don’t bug them!  Even if they’re just staring at a blank screen or just reading over a lot of text on the page, they’re working on it.  But ESPECIALLY if they’re in the process of typing!  It helps if they specifically say “I’m gonna work on writing now,” and if there’s a certain place they go to write or put on their headphones or whatever.. a sort of signal so you can know at a glance they’re trying to write!

Do a little extra on the chores if you can!  Especially if your Wrimo is getting a lot of writing done, they might slack on the housekeeping.  Even if it’s usually their job to do the dishes, wash a few of them so there’s less work for them waiting after they’re done working on writing!

Listen to them if they want to babble about their project.  Now if you’re not super interested, this can get old fast.  I’ve been on both sides of this, heh.  But a lot of times, talking out what you’re working on is all you need to get un-stuck.  Also, they’re excited about their project and want to talk about it with you! :)
