Something I don't really see being talked about is the whole Ableism (especially when it comes to post crash Curly), people making jokes of him or dehumanise him.
People make him use dog buttons or crawl on all fours for the sake of laugher. It's not really the "Laughing with" situation, it's a laughing at situation.
It all goes back to disabled people being the butt of the joke for able bodied people just because they are disabled.
Even if it's unintentional, the ableist undertones are still there.
This fandom makes me feel unsafe as I'm disabled person myself.

not really a confession but something i've noticed in the mw fandom is that people don't like. really play around with the characters races if that makes any sense whatsoever??? i feel like that sounds so weird omg. but like i'm in other fandoms & i see people drawing like white characters as other races and that's not something i've seen in mw art. not a good or bad thing, just something i've observed :3

haha it's so funny that everyone uses my mutilated burnt body as a joke thats so funny right i can still feel every burn stinging against my nerves but who cares the barely living suffering man looks funny (written as a curly fictive, i feel like shit and i need to get this out somewhere or it'll eat me alive)

People who have cardboard cuts of the characters like Jimmy or Curly ( mainly Jimmy) scare me gnl. Like yes I understand self shipping, I do that myself but I feel like having a cardboard cutout is a bit too extreme. Like how the hell are you going explain that to someone? I’m not here to shame self shippers, I’m literally one, but like I still think it’s fucking weird some of the shit I’ve seen them do and just think “god I don’t wanna admit to being one because then I’ll be grouped with them”.

Every time I see someone whitewash Daisuke I just think of that one meme with the Madagascar cast that says “Why are you white?”because where did his melanin go? Like let my Japanese Filipino man keep his damn melanin.

Anya fans and Curly fans are on the complete opposite spectrums of misrepresentating what Curly is meant to be and I will die on this hill

I like Jimmy. Not as a person, not for his actions, but for his character in the story. The entirety of mouthwashing we're stuck in this piece of shit's pov and it warps not only our initial views of the other characters, but our entire gameplay. Jimmy's behavior contributes to ALL of our time spent on the Tulpar, from our introduction to Anya, Swansea, and Daisuke to our interpretations of the hallucinations, moral of the story, and overall timeline. He's a plot device and the creators used him so incredibly skillfully that we're still arguing over him. The fact that there is so much controversy over interpretations of story and character and people are still so passionate about the game is a sign of that.

I'm really depressed by all the people saying, "Well what should Curly have done with all that bureaucratic bullshit around him!"
Why is the concept of locking him up so hard a choice for so many people! What's worse than a pay dock? Rape! What's worse than losing your co-pilot? Rape! Plus they have autopilot? It only failed because Jimmy disabled it! What's worse than having one less cryo pod to potentially use for later? FUCKING. RAPE.
I'm just astounded by the coping and defensive stance. Of COURSE Curly's not as bad as Jimmy! We're not stupid! But if he REALLY cared about Anya enough to want to protect her, he should have done ANYTHING.
And his horrifying skinless state is a literal mirror to the abuse Anya suffered at Jimmy's hands. Now he sees the pixel. Too little too late, he realizes that the danger only previously targeted at the sole woman on board is now pointed at everyone else as well, so NOW it's a problem.
