Update: I've been kind of overwhelmed by the amount of muses I've had and I wasn't really enjoying how I was handling Marsha and I was feeling unhappy with RPing. So taking that anon's advice, I'm going to try with a fresh start. I'm going to try to just write Marsha, Sarah, and Rosaline for now on @dcmonsiiistcrs. I also want to do a reboot for their relationships (although you're free to contact me if there's a relationship you want to keep). The new blog is a side blog to @civics-hub in the situation where I might make new side blogs for when I want to add back my other muses. I'm sorry to do this.

Semi Hiatus Notice

I haven't really been having great time RPing as of late and I think that I'm having a case of burnout. So I think I'm going to take a little bit of a break from this blog for the time being. I'll probably still answer asks and memes but I don't think I'll be responding to threads.

I could be wrong, but perhaps it's best to let Marsha develop naturally rather than what you think she should be? Characters are often fluid in nature, and it's more interesting if they change and adapt over time instead of staying exactly the same. You keep saying you're unhappy with how she turns out, and I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. But you can try using rp interactions or even drabbles to nudge her in the direction you'd like without rebooting her. Resets are needed sometimes, but it's also like spending years on knitting a blanket, only to rip out an out of place thread and cause the whole piece to unravel. In the end, she is your character, so you know what's best for your own creativity. But it's also okay to let our creations be a little messy and out of control sometimes. Use it as an opportunity to try new things and go outside your comfort zone rather than backtracking to where you started and wiping away all the beautiful effort you already put into her.

My biggest problem is just how open with her trauma Marsha is. I know that there's probably some people out there who are open about it but a huge part of Marsha's character is how untrusting she is of other people. Another problem I have is the amount of issues that Marsha ends up having with other characters. While I'm not saying that Marsha shouldn't have problems with other characters, the problem is that it's constant. There's just constant angst on the dash whenever she gets involved and while I love angst, at a certain point it just get tiring, especially when I get anons calling Marsha out.

While I'm not saying that anons shouldn't call her out, it just gets to the point where they're doing things like calling Sarah an enabler when in reality, I don't have the energy to write drabbles where character development is done.

Perhaps it's time to put the sisters on the backburner for a bit and start fresh with a completely new character? Your writing is fantastic but it sounds like you got a case of burnout. Sometimes starting over can help out with that.

The sisters aren't going anywhere and you might get inspiration for them at a later time! Let them be npcs for a bit so you can get the mojo flowing again!

However you decide to do things though, remember that no good comes from forcing yourself to power through creativity. You'll just be banging your head against a wall and doubting yourself.

Take your time and work things out. Your writing is phenomenal just like you.

I have been writing Marsha for 5 years.

She is my oldest OC. Before I brought her to Tumblr RP, I was writing Ana (who went by a different name) and the Freedom Fighters. I left the Sonic RPC due to some drama going on and I just focused so much on Marsha.

But I've been doing this for 5 years. It got to the point where writing Marsha just became so easy for me. And writing Marsha was so much more enjoyable to me.

I hear you, anon. But at the same time, I don't see how I could just try writing someone new after writing Marsha for 5 years.

So slight update: I don't know if I want to continue on with the reboot over on @dcmonsiiistcrs. I'm not happy with how Marsha is right now, I don't think I can keep rebooting her like this. I still feel like the amount of muses have is overwhelming and a part of me feels like I'm not as good as an RPer as I once was.
