Hum. Anybody have suggestions on where Ciarán and Sam's interactions should go or be about?
The one I have already in place is Ciarán being incredibly lonely and wanting to spend time with Sam as he plays video games.
He's been incredibly clingy since he arrived, so you have a few options as Sam.
You can say maybe later which he'll hide his disappointment, but says he can be patient and occupy himself.
Say no which greatly upsets him. He won't make a scene or cry, but he'll scoot away and anxiously fiddle with his flashlight notches to self soothe.
And if you say yes, the two spend time together, and Sam offers him a turn, but Ciarán declines since he just wanted the company, not to play the game. It ends with him holding onto Sam's sweater, leaning on him and falling asleep, and Sam not wanting to move him...and he doesn't mind it too much.

Space (or Cosmonaut) Fuzzy - Joel's teddy bear, repaired with items that were important to Ciarán.
The amount of care put into it gives Joel comfort and regenerates his HP.
Made by sacrificing Ciarán's onesie and using the fluff and fabric to stitch Fuzzy back together along with his custom projector lens to help it not fall apart.
Below is the additional rewards and in detail changes the two get once it's complete if you haven't seen the stat screenshot.
This quest is kind of… growth for the both of them? Not relying on his items means Ciarán's able to equip armor like the breastplate to the patchwork set and can fully wield two handed guns and still has the ability to teeth and devour since his hands are free.
Ciarán also comes to realize that 'home', the feeling of belonging, safety and comfort, doesn't need to be his security objects, it can be a person.
Joel becomes that during this questline and someone to be brave for, and it goes both ways since they've been through a lot together; lowering their guards and telling each other their worries about the future, grief of losing their families, how they hate their new biology and how it makes them look messed up, how it's hard to breathe now and the nonstop pain their mouths are in, stuff that they haven't even told Sam about.
As a result, Ciarán gets a custom state that takes effect whenever the two are in the same party. It gives Ciarán the same state resists as his flashlight did which were resistance to rage, confusion, panic and he gets a new resist, charm.
His willpower and mental fortitude to be brave for others becomes so strong he can't be swayed by outside influences to hurt the people in the party.
On Joel's end he comes to realize that even though his family is gone, be it they were killed or aren't the same people they were before depending on what the player does, he still has somebody from his old life, and they don''t mind his mutation and all that entails, like his wheezing, OCD about teeth brushing, night terrors or and how his teeth are constantly falling out.
Having someone who genuinely cares for him to the point of using their comfort items that were the equivalent to his Fuzzy, purely for his sake, helps with some of his self esteem issues, mental health and the loneliness he felt.
Kind of reflected in the item blurb, HP regeneration/hp gain and the same state resists as Ciarán, as it was a huge deal for the tooth child and he values this Fuzzy greatly.
Honestly, I'd to tell you about each one with my headcanons separately, but I understand that this will take A LOT OF TEXT and your time— so I try be short—
Sooo. Let's start with the head of the family - Clint
I don't think he and Madison would have liked what happened in their family very much. Unlike the children who don't even fully understand what's going on.
I think the first meeting with him in this AU would be the same as in the game, except Clint wouldn't be insane and for the first part of the dialogue with Sam he would try to hide his hand behind him so as not to scare him.
In my headcanons, Clint is a really caring and worried father. I think he would be very worried about the safety of his family in this apocalypse. And maybe not only about family(Like, I have a headcanon that Sam is actually a family friend to Madison, Clint, and Benjamin. and god, according to this headcanon, only Joel knows the absolute least about Sam). Considering the fact that uninvited guests could show up on their third floor and harm someone.
I think the mere thought of someone in the family being hurt sends shivers down his spine—
Also, while I was sketching him, I thought about how he would really dislike his 'new hand' at the beginning. Like, I even imagined the moment with apartment 13 where the wall asks to be fed a hand and then Clint and Sam are like::
-" . . . wait what if—"
-"Clint, NO— D:<"
-"WHY NOT, SAM??? >:("

Actually, I think she and Sam would have a lot in common. So I think They would be households besties or something :D It's would be pretty funny :3

I didn't make separate sketches for each child in this family. I think everything is clear with them.
Rosie could be a danger in terms of spreading tooth blight. She is very small and all she has on her mind is tasting everything she sees. And in this case, biting.
Joel would be almost no different from the original. The only difference is that he is no orphan now :D
Benjamin. I've thought of many headcanons for him, especially since he was given so little time in the game. Especially since all this time makes me cry for this little one ╥﹏╥
I think Joel and Ben would constantly argue about something. And it absolutely doesn't matter what it's about, even if it's some trifles.
I could say more about all of this if there wasn't already a lot of text here
So, as a conclusion, I'll throw in another sketch
Yes, I think that against the background of such naive sweethearts as Madison and Sam, Clint would seem like a very, very stern man suspecting absolutely everyone.
... Okay, now that I've thought about it, maybe MAAYYBEEE Clint has gone a little bit crazy after all.. little bit 🤏🤏🤏🤏
Someone said Ciarán is probably good at Nerf and I totally vibe with that headcanon.
He's very perceptive and was taught how to use a gun at like 5 years old due to reasons, so his reflexes would be super sharp.
I'm just imagining Sophie gets rage baited, trying to sneak up on him during playtime with her marbles to pelt him with, but every time she thinks she has him and shows herself, she gets pelted with nerf darts.
He'll even mess with her and pretend to not notice her, staying motionless or looking at sonething and either dodge her marbles or use his gravity to absorb them into his orbit or swat them away when she pelts him.
I'm kinda leaning on two chapters of party 1 with Sam's group and then two chapters of party 2 with Ronán and occasionally sprinkle bonus chapters in-between.
Like middle of the night reflections, sneaking off for peace of mind or... worse things. How's that sound?
And chapter 4 is still being written! I just was absorbed in other projects.
May need outside people to beta read chapter 4 as well to make sure it flows good and bop ideas off of. Got so many plans that I'm indecisive about.
Here's the rewards for Ciarán fixing Joel's teddy bear!
Ciarán's flashlight had a skill that guarantees a blind at the cost of rechargeable batteries that are very limited in quantity (2 a day, max of 4 ) and a low chance of stunning. It also gave him state resists to rage, confusion and panic and a very small stamina regen as it gives him the courage and strength to keep going past his limits while he looks for his brother and keep Sophie and Joel safe.
You also lose his unique onesie that has resist to crushing, cold and frozen since it's very bulky and warm. It has defenses on par with Monty's Jacket.
So to fix Fuzzy, you lose both of those things, but as a tradeoff he can now equip armors and weapons like the other party members, and he also gets a unique state that gets activated per fight.
For Joel's half he gets Space Fuzzy, of course, and it's very strong since you're sacrificing another characters unique equipment/combining them with somebody else's to make one super item.

A Casanova Mode Ciarán series would be kinda cute. Him going around the apartment hugging the other party members, and for those he really likes, he would give them a kiss on the cheek, like Rat Baby.
Pepper them with little 'Mwah Mwah Mwah's.'
He'd absolutely get giddy and bashful if he got a smooch from others he likes in return.
Very tempted to have Male Wife Eugene in my fic for either No Going Back or Promise Ending...depends on what I go with. Also Nestor and Marshall are an option, I'm already taking liberties with a few npcs.
These are all headcanons of romantic and gender stuff.
Sam - He/Him, Pansexual. Isn't used to kindness and gets all flustered, but as he receives more of it he realizes. Oh, I just want someone to love me and will date anybody. The end of the world has made him realize so many new things about himself if Casanova has anything to go off of.
Lyle - He/Him, I think Lyle is abrosexual, its constantly changing and shifting to whoever is the target of his stalking. The latest one being Sam. Maybe the people in his photographs were people he liked in the past.
Aster - He/Him, I don't know too much about Aster since I haven't recruited him before, but he definitely feels Bisexual to me.
Joel - He/Him, Gay. In the future I could see that being the case. A part of it being contributed to the worry of his whole teeth situation, and he seems to along better with boys than he does with girls.
Ciarán - He/Him, Pansexual. In the future love, love, love is the name of the game. Being Gaelic and adopting a lot of the culture, his form of love is vast and he has special words for each relationship he has.
Gaelic words give shape to feelings that are often difficult to explain: longing, tenderness, loyalty, and devotion. Whether it's Grá, A Stór, Mo Chroí, Mo Chridhe or Anam Cara, each expression carries a different kind of emotional truth, and he means them with all his heart.
Leigh - She/her, Omnisexual with a preference for women. Someone's strength or ability to take charge has a bit of a role on who she prefers, hence why Sam winning her fight couuuuld make her wiggle her eyebrows at the middle aged man.
Dan - He/him, bisexual. Though on stream he's whatever gender or sexuality is funniest for The Bit.
Hellen - She/it, unsure what her sexuality is, but definitely under the Sapphic umbrella in a big capacity. Can like men under certain criteria such as Sam.
Ronán - He/Him, Gay. Hadn't had much time to focus on relationships due to just taking care of his brother and then being homeless. Once he moved into the apartment and could explore his feelings he found out he liked dudes. Huge contributing factor was a dude his own age being legitimately nice to him with no ulterior motives.
Sophie - She/He, Pansexual. In the future as she travels the world, either looking for her mom, or just for the thrill of adventure, she'd probably fall for a lot of different people, be it human or cursed. Very influenced by Jeanne's stories.
Papineau - He/him, I'm kind of mixed between him. He kind of has Demi vibes but also... big very very gay man vibes.
Roaches - They/Them, each individual roach has their own gender and sexuality. It's a fools errand to try and catalogue them all. Most of them agree they DO like Sam though.
Ernest - He/him, Pansexual. Has been a roadie for many many years and has dated many many people who he reminiscences on. The validity of them is up to question because he sprinkles in his conspiracy and over the top situations in them. No Ernest, I don't think one of your flings was a snake person.
Fleep - Nonbinary, but prefers masculinity due to their 'act' and just stuck with it since its easier and also Sam seems to prefer it, Aromantic in some capacity I believe.
Xaria - She/They/, Abrosexual. Doesn't really care about gender conformity which is punk and who she likes shifts about. I also have ideas they're mtf?
Monty - He/They, Bisexual. Monty is Monty. I do kind of imagine there is some sorta situationship or queerplatonic thing going on with him and Xaria.
If someone pointed at him and then Xaria and said "Are you two lesbians?" He'd say something like "Huhuhuh, yeah. I love chicks dude." and him and Xaria would be laughing their asses off.
Morton - Collect My Genders, but honestly I do see Morton as He/They. Very Aromantic coded and doesn't form romantic feelings unless they really form a connection with them.
Audrey - She/Them, Demi in some capacity. Has a bit of difficulty falling for someone and letting people close in that way due to being self conscious about their whole vending machine body. However, if someone gets past that she falls HARD and is very doting and fusses over them.
Spider - It/It's, Uhhh... I honestly don't know too much about them but probably aroace? They seem like the kinda critter to not care about that kinda stuff.
I still very much love this picture of Ronán done by Yang. (I believe?) Absolutely adore his tired but whimsical look and is like my favorite piece of him.
They absolutely captured his essence.
