The Puppy Home
With new puppies, a problem arises when starting to develop themselves as human pups. They start building without any foundation. Novice assertive pups jump into puppy play by imitating dogs believing that overtime it won’t feel like acting. New shy pups slowly emerge into themselves, hoping that the puppy spirit will appear within them suddenly to their benefit, making being a puppy easier. These issues exist in both solitary play as well as with a Master. We may know why we want to be a puppy, but we don’t know how. Becoming a puppy is a natural consuming process that builds on itself starting at home. When a biopuppy is brought into a foreign place like a new home, the priority is to stake their claim on their territory, before any more puppies come along. Though not all of these are at all necessary to create the puppy home, they can be helpful tools to help you trigger into your mindset. One of the first steps in being a puppy is to build your home for the pup within you.
The Bed
A growing puppy requires a place to rest that they must be able to call it his own. The puppy bed satisfies the need for territory that cannot be interfered with. Make sure before buying or setting up your bed that it is something you can call your own. That is, you won’t be expected to have to move it every time you want to enter pup space. If other people living within your home are a nuisance to your mindset, the convenience of a conspicuous pile of blankets and towels can serve as a clever disguise to its true purpose.
Begin to create this space as a pup, on all fours. Roll on it to get rid of that nasty store smell, use your snout to ground out any uncomfortable spots, bring over your favorite squeakies and bones. Some puppies claim their ownership so far as to urinate and ejaculate on it, as this is a puppy sign of territory. Whatever you need to do to make this your space is important and crucial because your mind will begin to associate this space as a place only your pup self is allowed. It will make it easier to quickly jump into your mindset.
After claiming the space as a puppy, use it for as much as you can. Taking naps, reading, playing around with yourself or your toys, even if you can only do it for a few minutes. The pup begins to realize his height and observe his perspective. He is closer to the ground, smells become more prevalent, and the puppy starts to accept his height and perspective and moves on to the next step in puppy play.
What you can use to make a bed:
-Rubber tiles
-Set of towels, pillows, and blankets
-Comfortable throw Rug
-Yoga mat
Toys!!
WOOF! Toys are associated with the playful and rambunctious side of the puppy. With the wide and diverse selection of toys, there is no excuse not to have fun.
Toys serve as a constant reminder and connection to puppy side. We often bring them wherever we go, stash them away in hidden corners, or scatter them around the house. When you hear the squeak of a toy under your boot, you remember; There shouldn’t be a moment in your human life where you forget that adorable puppy side of you. Toys also serve to regulate the emotional well being of a puppy. “Stress balls” are an example of toys that professionals use to cope with their heightened emotions. Puppies use their toys for the same reason whether they are coping with anxiety or an overabundance of happiness. Toys act as a social tool between puppies. Biopuppies initiate play with another simply with the drop of a toy. Your toys may function with many more purposes to you than are perhaps listed.
Play with a variety of different toys to get a feel for what really makes you excited and salivate: Is it a leather dog bone or a squeaky toy? Do you love to play tug of war? These are questions you need to contemplate when looking for toys. After all, you don’t want a toy you can’t use.
Then, try to bring it everywhere you can. Stuff it in your pocket, in your car, in your bagpack or purse. In situations of stress or need, take out your toy and play with it. You may want to chew on it a bit. Go ahead. Let your puppy instinct guide you and have fun.
Examples of toys:
-Squeaky bones
-Tennis balls
-Squeaky toys
-Stuffed animals
-Ropes
Dog Water and Food Bowl
Whether they are made for dogs or not, the symbolic nature of a dog bowl defines a major aspect of puppy play. Dog bowls represent the humility and submission of a pup to either himself or a Master. This does not make the puppy submissive but proves our ability to overcome our human protective instincts and experience humility and trust. We are giving up our own ability to prepare our own food, trusting that whatever is given to us is necessary. This generates solidarity between a pup and his Master creating a stronger bond with between both. In solitary play, you are feeding yourself whatever it is you can find and forcing yourself to eat it like the pup within you because you know that you know best and you trust in that. The same situation can follow in a Master/Pup relationship. You trust your Master knows when and what you should get for food. Doesn’t mean we can’t always beg ;)
Find a puppy bowl you identify with strongly (In a Master/Pup situation, ask your Master if you have choice in what your dog bowl looks like). Color, material, height, and size are all important factors to ask about who you are as a pup. Larger dogs like Mastiffs will need more nutrition out of a larger bowl than a smaller breed. Customize it till it is perfect for you. Then chow down on some kibble
(NOTE: Please do not eat biodog food. It is made for their nutritional needs and not the needs for a human. It is hard to resist, but sick puppies don’t get as much play time :P )
Smells
*sniffs* As a pup, you will notice your strong connection with smells. Scent is a biopup’s strongest sense. As a human pup, you will begin to understand the secret language of odor. You should begin to smell your own underwear or shirts. Take a few deep breaths with an item of clothing in hand, then give it a good sniff. That is you, that is the language your body is communicating to you. It is based on the conditions you experience throughout the day. After a long run, your skin will smell salty and pungent with a slight factor that almost turns you on. Smell is one of the most immediate senses that connects with our working memory (our memories of the past). Have you ever smelled food at a restaurant that reminded you of home? Or a familiar cologne on a stranger that reminded you of a friend? Smells are important methods of identification for pups, from marking our territory to the comforting scent of a familiar pup friend.
Begin smelling different articles of your clothing. Like a smell? Bring it to bed with you, roll on top of it, bite it. Our different experiences with these odors will begin to help us gain a deeper understanding of why it is such an important communication method for other animals. If you have a Master, ask them for a piece of clothing to smell. Don’t have a Sir? Ask a close friend. Do you feel that would be odd? Ask to borrow some socks, or a shirt, or just smell it when they aren’t around and take it home. After all, puppies are known to be mischievous and steal smelly things they love.
Clothes that capture a person’s scent:
-Shoes
-Socks
-Underwear
-Shirts
Is there anything else you think should make the best possible home for a new human pup?
Wuff!
