“i can promise you that this. .” the masked hero waved his hand in front of his face, “is nothing special. but, i understand that maybe some of us are having our doubts about forming alliances with other spiders.” once again, seojun offered his pinky to jia, in hopes that maybe this time she would actually take it. “how about this. if you promise to stop lecturing me in front of… this guy… then i’ll keep my promise of being better, and i’ll tell you what some of my friends call me back home! and maybe… i’ll even tell you a little bit about my home… maybe.”
when listening to the masked man try to explain himself in front of her for his... poor behavior, she tries her best not to laugh in his face at his attempts. seriously... this behavior of his was certainly confusing for her. how was he going to act all nice and friendly one second, then reject any form of her attempts to try and get herself familiar with him? it’s as if he wants the girl to trust him, but wasn’t willingly to put in that same effort.
if that really was the case, then it explains why he’s trying his damn best to keep on defending cal, despite all the deaths he’s caused.
as he makes a waving motion to his face while emphasizing how it was nothing special for her, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes. as if it was nothing special. it was almost as if he’s never had anyone be that close and important to him if he’s never had to reveal his identity to anyone. even jia, who was practically trying her best to not be in the spotlight of much situations involving other people, had at least one person know who she was under the guise of silk. and because of how close that person was to her, she let another person who was close to him know about who she was too...
but... then again, that’s kind of what got her into this situation... so maybe he had a point. but still! they were both superheroes trying their best to keep their identities a secret to the public. their similarities with the spiders and trying to prevent normal civilians should’ve been enough substance for a trusting bond between the two, right? at least enough to be 100% honest with each other about who they really were.
but she supposes him possibly talking about his home life as well as learning of his friendships from his home universe was somewhere to start off, so she lets out a sigh that sounded slightly defeated. “fine, fine,” she responds, walking closer to him to take his pinky and wrap around it with her own. it felt.... childish, but it did make her feel a little light inside. thankfully the mask covered up her soft smile, so it wasn’t prevalent to the other. “i’ll stop embarrassing you in front of this crook. i can’t promise for the future ones, but i’ll leave you be until this guy gets founded by the feds... whether you think we should bring him in or not. i don’t know how you roll with them.”
she pulls her hand back as she puts her hands on her hips, looking at the other with a quirked eyebrow. “i hope you realize that talking about your old life won’t make me warm up to you easily, especially if you’re just going to go on and on about how amazing spiderman is,” she starts off as she reaches down to the pockets that seojun had put into her outfit (per her request when the sketch was being designed). “that being said, we should probably get going. you can tell me all about your cool superhero shit when we get....”
her voice trails off as she feels around her pockets. while she was able to find the phone in the pocket she always left it in, she realized that the other pocket that usually had the ear-piece was missing. her face drops as it quickly turns into fear—she’s pretty sure spiderman can even tell just by her widened eyes. fuck. as if she wasn’t cursed enough! she swore it was in her pocket just a minute ago. it was definitely there before spider man swung in and interrupted her. she even looked behind at the thief she had beaten up and saw... nothing in his belonging. there shouldn’t have been anyways, since he was all webbed up.
“oh my fucking god,” she groans, looking around herself and not even acknowledging the boy in front of her, not even realizing that the object she was looking for was there by his feet. “fuck. i literally had it a moment ago! why does this have to happen to me...?”

she didn’t even try to prevent the eye roll that was a response to him. honestly, for someone that was a “well-known hero” in his own universe for much longer than she was, he surely did not act the part unless it was to comment on how she needed to do better. but looking at him now, with that pitiful pout on his face... god. it was like she was dealing with a child.
she looks over to the perpetrator that she had webbed up and he looked at her with a weird expression and a shrug. he couldn’t possibly think she was being too harsh on spider man! .... could he?
if she had to be honest, when he first appeared in her world, she did consider befriending him. it’s why she invited him to stay at her place, after all. as a hero, it was her duty to help others when in a pressing situation and even if he also was a masked hero with spider-like abilities, he was essentially one of the people who she needed to help with his own pressing situation. she couldn’t just exactly leave him to figure it out for himself. her morality wouldn’t let her do that. in the end, silk served one essential purpose: to become a superhero that anyone could believe in.
...that seojun could believe in. she even keeps the broken earpiece he gifted her in her pocket as a reminder of that.
however, spider man’s made it difficult to try and make jia trust him at all. he had a brief encounter with venom as if he knew that it was cal under that symbiotic disguise and it was highly possible that he could betray her at any point. but he told her that he wanted to “help” cal “go back to his own self”... she didn’t think it was possible, but knowing seojun would’ve wanted this possibility to become a reality, she agreed to it skeptically. and besides the whole issue with cal, there was also the fact that he would not even try to reveal his identity to her! and it was odd because she was able to reveal herself without ease, as they were both bitten by the same radioactive spider. you would think there’d be more trust to reveal each other’s identities because of such a similarity that wasn’t common.
but alas... the dimension hopper refused to show himself.... while also only calling her by her code name instead of her actual name especially after she introduced her real identity! GOD! he wants to be her friend minute, but then tries to keep things “professionally for work” the next.
so she looks at his pinky, then back at him with a raised eyebrow, crossing her arms over her chest. he did seem genuinely apologetic, but jia wasn’t the type to be moved so easily, especially now with her grief. “you expect me to trust that you’ll keep your promise when you’re still not willing to trust me with who you actually are?” she asks. “how can i expect to trust someone who wants to be my best friend minute and then leave our ‘alliance’ for business only the next? that doesn’t quite make sense, does it?”
that sounded quite harsh. maybe she should tone it down a bit. “i’ll appreciate the fact that you called me pretty, however. because you’re not wrong.” she studies him quickly from his head to his toes. “though i can’t say the same for you, for obvious reasons.” she scoffs. “and yet i’m the mean one.”
solo number one: teo by omoi
she doesn’t remember how he fell inside the clock tower.
the first thing she remembers from that night in general was that she didn’t want him to get involved. while he insisted on helping out, seeing that both cal and her were planning on taking the green goblin down together, she told him that he couldn’t. “seojun, it’s too dangerous for you out there,” she explained to him. “i’m really grateful for all you’ve done for me. with silk’s outfit and all of my gadgets, you know that i wouldn’t be here without your help. but the reason why i am who i am is because of my powers and i know that i can stop him with them. but i don’t know how you can help with just the tech.”
“i can think up of something! i know i can!” he continued to insist.
“no. that’s final. it’s not that i don’t have faith in you. it’s just that this guy is really dangerous and i cannot afford to lose you.”
and yet, he didn’t listen to her. she felt like she should’ve expected that from him. after all, the both of them promised to each other that they would be together no matter what.
the memory still felt so vivid, even if it felt like it happened ages ago. she remembers hearing seojun’s screams before she had a long string of her web go down to prevent him from falling to the bottom. she remembers the bruises she had gotten on her face as she tried her best to stop the green goblin from causing any more destruction. glass was broken. gear was falling and eventually, she heard a snap and the sound of his scream. as she pushed the villain to the side, unknowingly knocking him out as he miraculously got underneath a giant falling gear, she quickly jumped down from the railing that she was on, falling down to him while trying her best to extend a web to him.
hold on tight to my hand.
she’s able to get down on her feet with the help of a strong bar that she happened to grab onto. as she tied the web that came from her hands onto it, she immediately hopped down to get a better look at seojun. as her feet land on the ground, she immediately looked up at the top to see if there would be any sign of him and whether or not he would cause any more harm to the city…. to them.
when she noticed no sign of him, she breathed a sigh of relief before she looked back down at the other. “we did it,” she said breathlessly with a smile, later fully realizing that something was… off.
not only that… he didn’t respond to her. at all. not even in a visual way.
her smile immediately dropped as she immediately has her hands cup his cheeks. “seojun, hey… wake up. i was able to beat the green goblin. he’s somewhere up there now. i can just call cal up and then the three of us can take him to the station together,” she tries her best to force the smile, saying all of that in a hushed voice.
no response.
she felt her heart drop, trying her best to carry him in one arm as she took the web attached to his chest off him. she found herself immediately having to kneel to the ground in other to make sure that she didn’t hurt his head by bumping it onto the hard dirt floor, trying her best to have both arms support him along. as she slowly slipped her arms out from underneath, she gently placed him on the ground in front of her. maybe he’ll be able to wake up if he lies straight on his back.
unless…
she lowered her head down to his face to see if she could hear anything. any sign of him possibly having passed out and just being unconscious. her hair even hit his face so that he could be able to wake up and make a goofy face with all of it in his mouth on accident. but he never woke up and made that face. he never pushed her hair to the side and whined about how her long hair was in probably going to go up his nose, having him scrunch his nose in protest afterwards. what’s most painful is she never saw… or heard him show any reaction at all in that moment.
in fact… the only breathe she could hear… was her own.
this…
THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING.
“seojun. seojun, wake up,” she said in a serious tone, shaking his body by placing her hands on his chest and watching as his body limply went in the directions of what way she was shoving. her eyes began to water at this point. “seojun, please. it’s me. it’s jia. please wake up. please tell me you’re okay.”
she began to feel even more frustration and distress when he continued to stay mute, refusing to even lift his eyes. a part of her knew that, at this point, he wouldn’t even be able to do that willingly if he wanted to. but the hope in her was still trying to be persistent.
is it too late to leave a few small wishes?
will i be able to say “welcome back” when the light has returned?”
“kang seojun, wake the hell up,” she shouted at him, her voice breaking as she brought her hands to the back of his head. “i can’t lose you. you’re all i have. you said we would graduate together and grow old and have kids. and that i’d tell them all about silk as if she was just some fantasy character.” her voice began to trail off as she held his body close to hers. “that was our future together. our future where we’re both happy together. i can’t be able to do that without you. i can’t be able to have that happiness without you. please.”
she knew it was useless. she knew it was no use trying to call out to someone who wouldn’t be able to say anything back. she knew that this was where her ideal future would end. after that promise, she had told herself that she would be able to cheer him on when he went on that stage to grab his diploma, having her follow him just a little later. she had told herself that she would be his wife. she would be the mother of his children and possibly the grandmother of his grandkids. they would get buried next to each other. they would even be on rocking chairs, looking at the sunset at their front porch together.
but now… now she would be nothing.
all she is now… is the hero that failed the most important person to her.
“you… you MONSTER.”
her attention was brought to the top of the clock tower where she saw the familiar blonde hair and tall stature of none other than calvin lee. even from this distance, she knew that he was practically giving her the look of pure wrath. he had a dangerous look in his eyes… and she didn’t know how to react to it.
“cal, please. you don’t understa—”
“after all he did for you!” he shouted at her, a deep, almost demonic voice accompanying his rage. “he LOOKED UP TO YOU, jia. he worked so hard on helping you become the hero that he believed in. he admired you so much not only as that girl from his science class… not only as the girl that lives under the same roof as him…. he had all his faith in you. HE TRUSTED YOU. AND YOU JUST FUCKING LET HIM DIE WITH THAT.”
as she stared up at him, she watched as he went from the kind, loyal boy who also equally cared for her boyfriend slowly change into a SLIMY, OBSIDIAN colored BEAST that she could hardly recognize as that very boy. with big, pearly, pupil-less eyes and large teeth that almost resembled the jaws of a piranha, she was in a state of shock… and fear.
“you will not get away with this, silk,” the demonic voice shouted this time. “we cannot let a liar like you continue to parade around as someone you’re not without facing the consequences of your inhumane actions.”
and just like that, it all went to black.
--
she wakes up abruptly, finding herself in her own room again. when she realizes that she was in bed the entire time and not… back in that situation again, she lets out a sigh of relief… though, it doesn’t last long when she remembers that it happened again.
and now that she thinks about it… she wasn’t sure if it’ll ever stop.
the nightmares have been recurring ever since that incident.
she sighs and holds her head in her hands, combing through her hair with her fingers. she wishes she could tell someone about this, but it’s not like anyone would be able to understand the pain she was going through. the only other person who knew about the truth about “the mysterious disappearance of kang seojun” was cal… and she knew he did not want to see her.
she sighs to herself as she pulls out her phone to look through social media for a quick second, scrolling through posts from different news accounts and gossip accounts talking all about silk. with headliners such as “silk saves the day once again” and “depending on our friendly neighborhood silk — the beauty with the webs”, it’s expected of her to be touched by such titles. there was once a time where she’d be able to scroll down the websites and barge into seojun’s room next door, telling him excitedly about what they were saying as well as complaining by what they were criticizing.
but now… now she feels like all the attention on her was pointless.
she quickly swipes out of the app, turning her phone horizontally as she switches her position from lying on her right side to lying on her left, clicking the familiar app that her phone’s “screen time” function has listed on the top of the list every week. is it an unhealthy addiction? most likely. but it wasn’t hurting anyone. in a way, this game was just her preferred form of escapism.
when she logs into the game and clicks through the basic popups that appear on her screen until she’s able to click on the play button and click on the multi-live button, waiting for her team members to come together and click the random option to get a song that none of the other players have chosen.
and thus it lands on this song.
a song that screams for perseverance.
a song that makes xu jia continue to live as the renowned silk.
i summon forth the wounded night
and cast a single little magic spell
and just like that, we can fly!

before he could give jia time to respond, seojun shot his web out to pull her closer. “seriously, am i too much?” even his mask couldn’t hide his pout, “you make me so sad, silk. and it’s a shame that i know i can’t stay mad at you for long because you’re just too darn cute! i just wish the pretty lady would let a guy know when she was planning on having fun without him.”
it was a bad decision to let him stay at her apartment when he insists on being so... arrogant. if he’s not constantly criticizing her for her way of executing her own abilities, he was making fun of her from some other way. whether it be the fact that she doesn’t require web cartridges and she has weird web hands or having to hear his lame ass pickup lines just to make her look like a joke, she was sick of it. she was sick of him, especially as a roommate. but she said she would try to help him with going back to his universe so long as she helped him save the city from venom.
while they usually patrolled the city together, she decided to go on her own without his knowledge. while they both did have spider senses, she’d like to say that her silk sense was... stronger and she most definitely took advantage of that when she quickly got into her outfit and began swinging to her destination. with her airpods in her ears playing “getcha” by giga and kira, she was able to find the guy, beat him up, and then used her expert webbing skills to have him unable to escape. ten badass points for jia.
so when she sees the perp look behind her with wide eyes, she finds herself sighing as she pauses the song playing in her ear, looking back and rolling her eyes just from the sight of spiderman himself. and now, she had to actually deal with his bullshit when she would rather be listening to her playlist. her reaction time was too slow to prevent his web from pulling her in and she immediately lets out a yelp as he forcibly closes the distance between them. god she wanted to kick him in the balls so hard... no, jia. he’s not worth it. stay calm. he is not worth your energy.
her brows are furrowed as she attempts to give him an intimidating glare. “you actually are. i’m glad you noticed,” she answers his question. “you have annoyed me enough for the past few times we went patrolling together and i wasn’t able to have some time to myself like i used to. believe it or not, i’d rather be listening to my music rather than have to hear your ‘critiques’ on how i’m not doing something like how you would, spider boy.” with her gloved hand, she yanks the web on her off so that she’s able to step back a bit, causing distance between them. “maybe i’d want to be your friend if you weren’t such a fucking jackass all the time. have you ever thought about that? and quit flirting with me! how do i make it clear to you that i’m not into cocky men like you?”

what’s their love language? ( fuchsia )
character development questions!
though she currently has no interest in pursuing a romantic relationship (mun note: *cough cough* unless *cough cough*), one thing that will manage to make her feel loved is receiving quality time. she doesn't always admit it, given she likes to be very prideful and seen as "confident" and "independent", but the girl appreciates it most when a person she cares about spends time with her. it was how she was raised after all: surrounded by her father and his friends who would often play with her and make her feel safe. almost as if she belonged with them.
in terms of giving, her love language is physical touch. it's not entirely because of her adventurous spirit wanting to expand her sex life, though. even with people who she doesn't sleep with, she'd like to make sure they would feel welcome and appreciated by her by giving them a hug, pat on the back, or on the head (especially seen more with her suseong quidditch teammates). she shows most of her affections through her actions than her words. it's a way to let them know that she wants to get closer to them as a friend and have a fulfilling bond with them, regardless of any differences.
for yeonhee!!: has anyone ever betrayed their trust? do they still speak to them?
character development questions!
in terms of having betrayed her trust, there is not many people that come to yeonhee's mind. in fact, she thinks she's one of the lucky few who has mostly had friendships that didn't have any major conflicts that involved her. while some may assume it may be because she's a doormat, it can be argued that she just... simply knows how to mind her own business.
that being said, if she were to name anyone who she didn't trust at the moment, it would most definitely be her parents. after their continuous disapproval of what she wanted her future to be, she holds herself back from telling them anything and everything that is personal concerning her life. in fact, if she had the option to, she'd simply distance herself from her family completely... except maybe for changwoo. she'll talk to him from time to time just to catch up for twin union sake.
👠 JAEHEE UPDATE!
GO JAEHEE’S FACECLAIM HAS CHANGED FROM KIM MINJEONG (WINTER) OF AESPA TO KIM CHAEHYUN OF KEP1ER!
BESIDES FACECLAIM: she is 160cm (5″3″). changes on the blog will happen soon. besides that, everything else is the same! she is still the fashionable little rascal that everyone knows and loves!

nsfw sentence starters drabbles!
though she was very thankful for her position as duchess, especially with the fact that she is both able to save her family’s legacy and also marry the love of her life as a result, she would be lying if she said that her responsibilities weren’t at all… taxing for her energy. had she kept majority of her “old” self, she’d probably be able to get through it without a sweat, especially by acting the way society wanted her to. but when she decided to take a step back from living that demanding lifestyle and mix a bit of it with her own personality… there of course is some hardships.
she walks up the steps to her—her husband’s estate and unlocks the front door with her keys shortly after being dropped off from her ride. as soon as she enters the house and closes the door behind her, she lets out a long awaited sigh that she had been holding in for the last four hours that she was out doing… business with her sister. thank god she was home. now she could just go to her room and take a long awaited nap that she deserved after such a long day.
“you’re finally home!” a loud voice exclaims from upstairs.

seojun sighed, reaching up to rub the tension off his face. “your family’s bankruptcy is not my fault, and for you to blame it on me, someone you don’t personally know, it’s sickening.” his hands fell back down to rest on the table, “however, despite your opinions on my character, i am not my father. i do sympathize with your family, and i’m willing to disguise my support for you and your family through marriage. so, rest easy knowing your family will be taken care of, but if you ever accuse me of being so low as to disregard other people’s lives… you can kiss this entire agreement goodbye.”
to say that reply to him was mentally exhausting would definitely be an exaggeration, but it is certainly how she felt. she has to force herself to not lie back on her chair, otherwise she would’ve felt that she was no better than the man in front of her. with his impolite and confident demeanor that he was displaying to her in this moment, she could easily determine that whatever this engagement and marriage are will not be a delightful experience for her. but she was willing to make that sacrifice. she wanted to make that very clear to anyone and everyone.
hearing him say that he is nothing like his father throws her off a little slightly, but she still remains blank-faced throughout. she had assumed previously that he did not have a perfect relationship with him (to be fair, she did not exactly have the best bond with her parents either), but the way he speaks of him... that man. it almost makes her pity him for whatever situation he had with the mentioned duke. almost, though. there’s still the fact that was not willing to go through the marriage simply because he wants to do whatever he wanted.
and that’s when he surprises her: he agreed to go on with it. with some reluctance, obviously. not surprising for someone as pompous as him, but she could at least respect the fact that he was willing to go through with it by expressing that he was sympathetic towards her situation. if she were to loudly breathe her sigh of relief, she’d most certainly look pathetic. instead, she clears her throat and nods along with his comment.
at least she got her point across. it’s quite the feat for someone like her. she was used to having to go the extra mile to at least try to get half of her points across when it came to jinghan. he was less of a prick than kang seojun, but he was certainly persistent... and evil... and manipulating... but there’s no way she’d admit that to anyone since everyone wanted to kiss his feet because of his position as the heir to her father. he was always her parents’ favorite, so it’s not like she had much of a chance of getting her arguments through.
she almost wants to laugh at him. at his defense on his own character. he really is obsessed with himself that he only cares about what he believes is his character rather than what others perceive. it’s certainly a peculiar mindset that she did not see many people in her daily life have, besides maybe jingze. but with the fact that he was the youngest son, she supposes it’s fair enough. she wished she could be able to understand him more and his priorities, but she’s changed so much... he probably thinks of her as a different person now.
NO. she’s not here to lament on her own relationship with her siblings. this is business. she needs to talk business. and if said business meant she had to stop stating the truth that he was arrogant enough to think he was on the right always, then so be it. it’s not like the both of them will be oblivious to the fact that she thinks that of him anyways. he’s probably heard it enough times that he’s sick of people repeating it like a broken record.
“very well,” she says simply with a hint of sophistication. sure, she’s not in a higher rank than the man is, but she at least wants to prove her worth. “i will be sure to withhold any comments concerning your... confident character, if that is what will make you comply with the arrangement.” she takes another sip of her drink before she continues with her argument. she needed that sip. her throat is practically dry from speaking out so much. good heavens! she wonders if her older siblings or her father have ever gone through this sort of fallback.
as she places the cup down, she goes back to putting on that “prim and perfect” close-mouthed smile. regardless of her actions and words earlier, she still wants to make herself seem respectable, even in the least amount for him. “i thank you for taking the proposal in consideration after hearing my argument, as well as your generosity with aiding my family and i, regardless of your personal opinions on the matter.” she brings her hand out for the other to shake. she’s not exactly sure if she is allowed to do this given her role in society and his, but she couldn’t think of any other way to finalize the decision between the both of them.
“allow me to properly introduce myself, assuming that your father forgot to mention my name or if it simply crossed your mind. my name is xu jiali, but i prefer you refer to me as simply jia.” there’s the basics out of the way... should she go more in-depth? “though i am the second youngest of my family, therefore not holding much importance compared to my older brother and sister, i want to make it clear that i am still worthy of respect. and even if you are hesitant to give me that solely because i earned your father’s, i hope that you will eventually learn to do that no matter how much you dislike my character.”

what a waste of a lovely day

“you must have plans to bear children, am i correct? plans of making your family proud with a boy that could one day continue the lineage, or perhaps a girl who would spend everyday fixing herself to seem as perfect as you make yourself out to be?” the heir leaned in close, his eyes fixated on her’s as he continued to speak, “i will never give you that. if you wish to continue this arrangement, that is fine, but you will live your life feeling the worst feeling any bride could ever feel. you’ll never bear my children, hell, we will never even sleep in the same bed. you’ll live a life of solitude and spend each day feeling like you have failed your family. because you will never— and i mean never— be good enough to be any wife of mine.”
she stays silent for a while to make her words sit in the air. it wasn’t like her to automatically go off on a person who could be otherwise known as a stranger to her, let alone someone with a higher rank than herself. but she had to show off whatever little pride she had left in her and make it shine in times when she needs it. besides, it wasn’t like he was really playing his part as an up-and-coming duke anyways so she might as well treat him as such.
she looks at him as he makes an equally frustrated retort back at her, listening to it while having no intention of taking his words into consideration at all. if he was not going to take his part in society seriously, she might as well not take his “heavy” words to heart. trying to be nice. she wanted to laugh at that boy’s face. HE DIDN’T EVEN CARE TO ASK FOR HER NAME. if he was trying to be nice, he could’ve at least made an attempt to dress up well to show he respected her time and patience. the fact that he came in with messy hair, untidy clothes, and a measly way of backing out of a business proposal was anything but kind. in fact... it felt like his very presence here was mocking her and her efforts.
at least he acknowledges the truth that he’s a liability. she should feel some pity over the fact that she’s not the first person to tell him that, but she could care less at this point.
she watches him go on and on trying to belittle her character because she had decided to speak up and set him straight. how weak. he’s trying to make measly predictions of her just because she said that his proposition of backing out of the wedding was a stupid idea (which it is). the fact that he’s so vocally against this arrangement yet he’s already mentioning their future together when she has little to zero expectations of it makes it even more humorous to her.
then he mentions her family. “you have failed your family.” that’s the sentence that makes her attempt of a smile drop into a glare. how can he boast about how little he cared for other people so freely? surely, he wasn’t thinking clearly, right? the fact that he wasn’t even thinking of it from her family’s shoes. there is no mention of the reason why this marriage was arranged. the only mention of her father is when he’s making an assumption that she took up a talent he suggested so that she could be suitable for the likes of him.
the harsh politeness was her simply taking a step out of the line. at this point, she could care less if she was over it by the distance of one country to another. she needed to give a piece of her mind.
“whether or not i would’ve ‘thrown myself at you’ is none of your concern at this point, given your barbaric behavior,” she starts, trying her best to control her temperature to prevent any more people from paying attention to them. “you speak so much about how much you are against this arrangement, but you’re the one already making assumptions of me based on the fact that i rejected your pathetic excuse of an offer. in fact, if you want me to be brutally honest, being your idea of a perfect wife does not concern me in the least.”
she doesn’t even try to break the eye contact. if she attempted to, that’ll mean a loss for her and she wasn’t willing to take any. she will make him know that. “lord seojun, you talk so much about my family, but the fact that you are not at all mentioning the reason as to why we are here in the first place tells me that you could care less about anyone other than yourself and your selfish desires of remaining an ignorant bachelor who thinks he can get through life by getting whatever he wants without an ounce of thought about the consequences and who it will affect. and you call me foolish.”
she crosses her arms and rests them on the table in front of her. “seeing how you reacted about your father, i assume both of you might see my family as an advancement: an increase of business and a little badge on a big board of associates his business has. what you failed to recognize is my family’s perspective on this.” she takes a moment to keep her thoughts organized. if she acted out because of his idiotic brain, she would eventually fall and crash. she did not want that to happen.
“my family doesn’t see this as an advancement. they do not see this as a small acquisition that they can just brush off. they see this as their last chance of hope. they are relying on this partnership to help not only my father, but my family as a whole. if you were to end this engagement before it even starts, you may think you will go parading around in some different country. but will you really be able to live the easygoing life you desire when you are responsible for the business’s bankruptcy? how will you be able to sleep peacefully at night without an ounce of guilt because your wish to not be tied down leads to the destruction of my family’s legacy?”
she huffs loudly after finishing her speech, closing her eyes for a second once more to relax. her tone raised when she was talking about the possible outcome if this engagement were to fall through because of him. “i do not care if you want me. i do not care if you could care less about me because i’m not good enough.” she’s already tried at being the perfect ideal daughter and little sister to her family. she could care less about being someone who would kiss his feet and beg for forgiveness from him. “but know this: i need you. not for my personal benefit, but for the people i love.” she tries her best to keep the true reason of her being adamant about this vague. “and i will not let your self-obsessed idea of freedom get in the way.”
