A softer pallette. Unusual for me. What do you think. It’s a work in progress. It actually used to be an entirely different painting. Which I really liked but then part of it annoyed me. And that’s when I know it’s not fright. I tried to alter the part that bugged me but that didn’t work either. So it got a total make over. I’m liking it a lot so far. Going to leave it up. Visible so I can live without a while and see how it goes. Do any of you artists out there paint over your paintings? Do you like the softer colours? Reading. And loving Deep Work by Cal Newport. This quote leapt out at me. As you may know I am very interested in productivity. But it’s not because I want to be industrious. In fact I’m always surprised when people tell me how busy they think I am. I’m really not busy. I am ambitious though. And I really want to make things happen. I have dreams and I want to make them real. And I want to feel spacious. And find the most direct and effective route. So much of the time the struggles we put ourselves through are pointless. Because there really is another simpler easier way. That’s the way through I am looking for. Or the one that has the most beautiful engaging scenery to make the journey a delight. Sometimes if we just step back and ask. Is there a simpler / easier / more fun way of achieving this. There is. And doing that instead saves so much time. Anyway. That’s my musings for this evening. Inspired by the purple white and green of the first random page I picked up to tear up and collage with. There were various banners made for the feminist movement. So the theme progressed. On Friday we watched Enola Holmes. A Netflix movie about Sherlocks younger sister. Set at the turn of the last century when the suffragettes and the reform bill were front and centre. Reminding me of how far we have come. To have film where the young woman is front and centre to the story. Where feminism is key to the plot. In a film produced by its young star. Times are changing.
