the ultrasound mandates pro-life fuckers push to try to guilt people into not getting abortions are so asinine and degrading and stupid. and useless! never once in my life have I heard someone say “I needed an abortion but I saw the amorphous blob in my womb and was overcome with a feeling of profound instinctual love and decided to keep the pregnancy.” I have never heard anyone say that, not even in pro-life propaganda.
honestly? first trimester ultrasounds are kind of creepy and gross. I would never say this to a parent and I understand that ultrasound photos hold so much beauty and sentimental value for people who want to be pregnant but divorced from all emotion, most first trimester ultrasounds kind of look like an amoeba emerging from a dark void.
As a parent, my ultrasounds were creepy and gross. It was a very planned IVF child so a scan was not going to make or break it for me. They are necessary to monitor the health of the baby but I never kept them. It’s weird to see pictures of the blob. The IVF clinic sent me home with a picture of the embryo inside me. The EMBRYO. Also weird right? Am I the only one who thinks that’s weird. I have nothing against parents who find those things meaningful. I’m probably the odd one here. Later in my pregnancy the said that they could do 3D pictures so you could see your babies face. I looked at the scans and it looked like a grey claymation alien person and it really weirded me out. I’d rather wait to see the face when they are born. I know so many women are falling over themselves to see stuff like that but if I go through pregnancy again I’m going to tell them I don’t want to see the grey clay baby. Too creepy. They tried to send me home with a photo of the clay baby. I gave to my husband and asked “do you want this or can I throw it away” maybe it was the hormones that made it so off putting. I’ll never know but it weirded me out every step of the way
I have also had abortions and forcing someone to look at their scan is not going to trick them into wanting it. If you are getting an abortion you are in a bad situation and desperate. It’s not like you are getting a married couple that wanted to wait a couple years but got pregnant sooner than desired and now that they see it they have a change of heart. No, those girls need that treatment yesterday! Stop making it a worse experience than it needs to be
Two World Cup finalists from opposing teams in this fucking picture, this sport isn't real
Context for anyone who is wondering: Lamine Yamal's parents won an UNICEF raffle for a charity photoshoot in which Barça players posed with kids, and 5 month old Lamine happened to get 20yo Messi. Which is like. Literally insane

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)
At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.
Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.
Same guys btw. So they did turn out good yeah
