That place is "oberschweineöde” (dead boring) like we say in Berlin, you know, instead of Oberschöneweide. The only thing I regret is not coming here straight in 1961. I was on holidays with my family somewhere near Berlin. One day I planned to take the train to West Berlin to see the Ku'damm, but the station counter in that small hick town was closed. If I had been a clever child, I would have just bought the ticket on the train. Instead, I returned back home. Well, that exact day they build the Berlin wall. Had I taken the train, I would have stayed right there in West Berlin, but instead I was still in East Germany. However, giving up was never my kind of thing. Egal, Bange machen gilt nicht und Aufgeben war noch nie mein Ding. Hat es eben ein paar Jahre länger gedauert mit Berlin.”
