【♦】——It doesn’t take long for her to realize she’s not alone. Homura is well aware that she draws attention wherever she goes, whether she liked it or not; whereas in the past she was only talked about in weak whispers and passing comments, she always seemed to build a sort of reputation in Mitakihara, what with her current self.

But her audience of one was unlike any other she’d met before. He was neither human, nor the product of a witch. To put it simply, he did not belong at all… but perhaps it was Homura who didn’t belong in this strange instance of the city she dearly knew.

Her eyes never left his small form, though she quickly determined he wasn’t much of a threat to begin with. Running a nonchalant hand through her hair, she regarded him solidly. "State your business."

<The human girl stares back at you with an equal amount of mild curiosity as you yourself extended - is your 'robotic' status really so obvious? She's not the first human to have noted, either. Well, it doesn't seem as if it unnerves or freaks her out in any manner. That calm demeanor has not changed or seemed to one bit - for which you are thankful the last thing you desire is to make humans afraid. You want to help protect them. Even if they might not need protecting.>

<A few moments of silence pass as the human and you observe in equal measures - the human then making an inquiry to you. Oh. Well - you can't think of a way to answer THIS inquiry with head bobs or hand motions alone, so you open your mouth and actually talk for once. Your voice is soft due to hardly using it, a faint metallic tone to it if one listens carefully - but it's fairly 'human' otherwise.>

"my business - is...to offer assistance to people of the city. do you require... said assistance? the strange creatures here...do not seem that powerful, but...I will...offer aid even if that is so because helping is...important..."  

<You know you probably don't LOOK like the strongest, but you're very good at firearm combat, and you'll offer your strengths to the human if she wishes it.>

<Despite the atmosphere of the human city seeming rather tense - like something was taking place that he didn't know due to having only just rebooted up here - the fact remained that there was much of this place you did not know. You'd...never seen human cities still alive and civilized before. So there's a lot you'd like to observe and take notes of - humans themselves being one of those things.>

<You don't understand them very well at all. This is perhaps to be expected as you are a robot, but you sincerely would like to know and understand more. Maybe be friends in time, even if they tend to be very odd. You have a heart and soul - feelings much like they would do, true, but given humans all...well. What happened to them in your world, you don't know much about them.>

<Case in point, you didn't know humans could have such...curious hair colors as the human you strayed near. Did the human fall into paint somehow? That would be bad paint smelled bad. Out of this concern due to not having seen such an unusual style before, you ponder close to the human, tugging your own hair as if to ask if paint DID fall on the human. You weren't sure what could get paint off humans though.>

【♦】——So the first witch is on the move. About time… Homura is debating giving the amateurs a chance to stretch their wings, or to just put the damn thing out of its misery by herself. For everyone’s sakes.

Homura was different from in that she actually knew what she was doing. She had taken this job years ago, and she was good at it but still not good enough. If this Mitakihara wasn’t too different from the one she knew, all mahous were competing. This wasn’t a game, and she couldn’t sacrifice a chance like this if it would lead her to Madoka…

She wanted information, and for that, she’d have to cooperate. To some degree.

<Amongst the humans that either are panicking or uncertain of what is going on - either that, or heading off to try and lend a hand - there seems to be a human standing aside from it all. You don't understand why the human is standing there - but she seems calm and composed. Almost like she's been through this a lot before. It'd probably be rude to ask, so you have no intention of doing so.>

<All the same, you approach the human. They look like they can take care of themselves, but...all the same, you offer an inquisitive, questioning gaze. Do they need someone to back them up, or not?>

Though they didn’t close down the gardens, people didn’t go much to this place since the plants had died out, so it was peculiar for this stranger to wander here so suddenly. Saki blinked, eyeing the stranger as he…gestured quite wildly at him and the plants. It took him a few minutes to realise what this stranger was talking about.

"Ah." He looked at the dead plants in around them. The authorities tried to revive the place. Even they offered assistance, grasping any chance to improve the conglomerate’s reputation in the city,  but to no avail. Naturally, it was something out of this world that could’ve done such a thing. It was the one he, and probably a lot of others too, was after.

He looked at the brown clad garden, at the dead plants that used to bloom pastel greens and blues and pinks, then back at the stranger.

"The plants are dead and no one seems to know why." He shrugged, as if this was trivial matter. He knew why. That was why he was here. "And," he immediately added, finally realising something, “this place is dangerous. You should get going.”

<Thankfully, the human in front of you does not question your lack of speaking at the current time - instead pausing to consider your gestures before understanding. You suppose words can sometimes be easier to understand than nods or hand movements but you've always been the quiet one. No matter what, that is not subject to change. Nonetheless, the human explained that the plants are dead and nobody seemed to know why. You believe this, but that whisper in the back of your programming goes up again. Quite a bit, too.>

<Hm. It hasn't activated this strongly before: is this human not telling the entire truth? Well, you are a stranger. You don't feel angry if the human didn't tell you things - you find opening up and talking to strangers - or anyone - incredibly hard yourself. The human then proceeds to slowly dawn on some sort of fact, then saying the place was dangerous and he should get going.>

<Ah. So...something was happening here. Maybe this was connected with the 'thing' that the Mimiga said appeared - well, that was the only bit of information he'd booted up in time to hear anyway. You pause to think, before silently grabbing your hat and taking it off with one hand. As you remove it - the tell-tale 'gem' you got from the Mimiga glimmers on your forehead despite being covered a little by your fibre-optic 'hair', before you place the hat back on.>

<You give another shrug that makes it clear you don't yet know the specifics of the danger, but - but you then make a few gestures like sharpshooting very well with your hand. That is to say, you're very good at armed combat and wish to tag along to help this human. The air they carry makes them seem a good person to team up with. Also, your wish was so you could try and help protect all humans. You can't just let him go alone.>

Despite his charming and unknowing appearance, dealing with people wasn’t exactly Saki’s forte. He was much better off with a gun or a knife or figuring out his next steps to keep his lie as a fake heir. For five years Saki had been lying, using his wits to make doubting people his allies. Though he hadn’t been dirtying his hand like the way he used too, it didn’t do much difference still. He was still one of the manipulative, lying types, whether Saki wanted it or not.

And unfortunately, sometimes, such a person was fit to be a leader.

Saki was no leader, really. He was too unstable, too dependent, to be one. He was more of a follower, a servant who wholeheartedly offered his life to a master. However, if the master was gone, then who’d take over? Of course, his most loyal subject. That was who Saki was.

This loyal servant would lead and even sell his soul if it meant having to see his beloved master once again.

Green eyes stared down at the dead plants in the gardens as Saki crossed his arms, leaning on a nearby branch. He didn’t realise he had spaced out there. How long had he been here? Saki couldn’t remember, really, but he’d been waiting to see if he could spot a familiar around. It would definitely bring him to his target. Footsteps were heard, and Saki found himself looking at a stranger who, amusingly, was looking at him with such a curious gaze. Unknowingly, Saki smiled softly at the stranger.

"Hello. Is something wrong?"

< The peculiar human with the strange air that had drawn you closer out of curiosity was not the only thing 'odd' here now that you took a moment to further observe the situation. This seemed to be one of those strange areas humans grew plants for whatever reason? Again, a faint whisper of programming tries to inform you more about human culture, but again in no language you understand. The strange area itself wasn't what was off. It was the lack of plant life at all.>

< The leaves and twigs that should have been green and spiraling gently to the sun were brown, rotted, shells of their former selves. Humans...didn't usually let these squares of plantation get so rotting, did they? Something seemed off about the whole affair. Was that what you had 'missed' the white Mimiga saying on startup? There was no time to ponder this just now, however. You tilt your head slightly in regards to the small smile of the human as they ask a peculiar question. You don't know. Something seems off about this place, but you have no idea what is happening.>

<Therefore, you give a bewildered gesture of concern to the dying plant-life around you and the human. 'Yes, something is wrong - with the plants here. But I don't know what it is' - is what the gestures seem to say. You do not speak a single verbal word, however. You only speak when you have to. >

<With the fervent wish to the white Mimiga successfully made, you pull your hand down over your messy fibre-optic 'hair' some more. There is now a strange gem on your forehead which no doubt holds the magic the creature gave you. Good thing your hair and the brim of your hat covers it. However, despite feeling like you are a lot stronger now: the fact remains that you don't know enough of the place to know where to go, exactly.>

<Well, the simplest thing to do is keep on the move until you see other 'magic' people all heading the same way, and join up with them. That seems sensible. You were unaware that humans could have magic until this point, though: you always believed humans were unique, and that proved it even more. Though, as he walked, another human caught your eye - so much so you stopped in your tracks.>

<You didn't have time to linger but - there was a strange air about the human, as small and unassuming as he seemed. Like a...leader almost? What was that air, the strange way he carried himself? There was a faint 'voice' of programming in the back of your head - perhaps trying to explain more about this human's behavior - but you couldn't understand it yet, and so approached the human with a curious gaze.>

"....?"

<Why was it this human seemed leader-like in a way? Had they done this before, maybe? If so, it would be a good idea to team up with them...>

Just by a few glances, he could tell that this guy wasn’t entirely human. Him being a master technician helped, as well. Not that he looked like or acted like one, but the skill was there just the same. 

"So, you’re not human, right?"

Insensitive was the softest word you could apply to Merak, as his sharp tongue quickly got him into scuffles in the past. Whatever, he didn’t really care. He was interested in this android, though. Who knows who made him?

<Having continued on in your search to spot the white Mimiga creature again in hopes that you may be able to make your wish - even if it means talking - your wide-eyed observation of a human civilization not collapsed - but thriving, surviving, so much energy and different people is cut short on hearing a human address you specifically. Not...human? Oh. Oh. Well, you'd honestly hoped someone wouldn't call you out on this so soon. Wouldn't humans freak out on knowing what you were? You don't want to alarm them.>

<Yet, there is little point in attempting to hide the truth from this particular human....judging from what seems a sharp gaze and blunt words. That and he isn't freaking out yet. Therefore, you give a simple shake of your head to confirm the human's suspicions - no, you are not human. Though you do look a very human-like robot and have a 'heart and soul' much like humans do. You never understood that...but it's what little you can remember.>

<You then affix the sharp-eyed human in a questioning manner. As if to say ' what exactly gave it away'? You thought you were doing a good enough job of keeping up pretenses.>

<You are uncertain as to just how long you spent in Sleep Mode upon initial arrival to this place: getting here by foot took an inordinate amount of time, though you don't know how long. Your mind is still very fuzzy from everything - so logic pertain you could have been 'asleep' for quite a time. Eventually: your system reboots - and the fuzzy image of the city meets you - colors soon becoming clearer and more distinct.>

<So, you finally got here after all this time - you feel relieved, but what was that the white Mimiga creature said? You were still booting up, so didn't quite respond to it, but something about a 'something appearing' somewhere had been mentioned. Well, if you want to go about fulfilling your task to help humans, you really do need to collect more data of what is going on, exactly. Searching your databanks, the logical thing to do is to ask a human. You don't like talking unless you have to, though. As such, you patiently wait until it seems someone passes you by, and attempt to wave them down. Hopefully the human is not too busy.>

<You affix the human with a slightly lost, but hopeful gaze that speaks more than words could - specifically - Do they know more of what's happening right now?>
