Behind the scenes of the filming of Luke facing his fears of Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
âThe fence jumping is an obsession of mine because when I used to walk to school it was in the alleys not through peopleâs back gardens, and I always wanted to take a shortcut through their gardens and I never did, so Iâm living vicariously through the movies.â âEdgar Wright

Like Superman never defeated the kkk.. #Love it!
remember when captain america punched hitler in the face on the cover of his first issue
Like the X-Men and Luke Cage werenât created during the Civil Rightâs Movement during the 60âs for no fucking reason at allâŠ
Remember that the comics that really got the industry up and running where created by Jews in response to antisemitism and what was happening to Jews during the Holocaust.
But sure nothing at all related to social justice and equality there at all /sarcasm/
also, that book isnât even about Superman fighting the KKK in a fictional story either, like, itâs about a guy named Stetson Kennedy who went undercover and infiltrated the KKK, then gave all their secret codes and handshakes to the Superman writers so they could do a bunch of stories where Superman fights the Klan, in order to reinforce the Klan as both villainous and worthy of ridicule. It worked really well, too, the iteration of the Ku Klux Klan that existed at the time (before it was revived by modern white supremacists) was largely DISBANDED because of this Superman storyline, after a lot of Klan leaders went home and saw their kids Playing Superman, beating up pretend Klansmen who happened to be using their actual codes and titles. Getting social issues involved in comics has had an actual tangible effect on dynamics in the real world, and having Superman fight the KKK in fiction actually managed to adequately shame the majority of Klansmen into disbanding their organization. So, it makes sense to write fictional heroes as being opposed to real villains, because superheroes play a big part in forming kidsâ conception of right and wrong
Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

ââŠlast year this photograph of children looking at their smartphones by Rembrandtâs âThe Night Watchâ in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam [went viral.] It was often accompanied by outraged, dispirited comments such as âa perfect metaphor for our age,â âthe end of civilizationâ or âa sad picture of our societyâ.
âŠIt turns out that the Rijksmuseum has an app that, among other things, contains guided tours and further information about the works on display. As part of their visit to the museum, the children, who minutes earlier had admired the art and listened attentively to explanations by expert adults, had been instructed to complete an assignment by their school teachers, using, among other things, the museumâs excellent smartphone appâŠ.
The tragic thing is that thisâââthe truthâââwill never go viral. So, I wonder, what is more likely to bring about the death of civilization, children using smartphones to learn about art or the willful ignorance of adults who are too quick to make assumptions?â JosĂ© Picardo, Medium

A painter in Los Angeles kept missing his exit for the I-5 on the 110 highway, so he did his research, climbed up the overhead sign, and changed it himself without anyone noticing.
This is Richard Ankrom. He couldnât find his damn exit, cuz it wasnât properly labelled. Â
So he took life by the balls, like any self-respecting Californian would do, and used his sign-painting expertise to fix it himself.
He called it âguerilla public service.â Even got himself an outfit to look official. It worked, obvi.
Caltrans investigated, but the sign was actually up to code. They left it there for 8 years before they made an updated sign.
