REPOTTING: Why is it important to repot orchids once a year? Because their potting mediums decompose faster than peat moss or coco coir. Once that happens, the roots will not have enough oxygen and will start suffocating.⠀ ⠀ Remove all of the old medium, trim all dead roots and pot into fresh bark or sphagnum moss. If you use moss, I suggest New Zealand long fibered sphagnum moss.⠀ ⠀ WATERING: Better to wait until the medium has fully dried out. You'll be able to tell that your orchid really needs water because the roots and leaves will become wrinkly. Don't wait until that happens though. Maybe do it once or twice to gauge how long it takes for that to happen in your home environment. But better go on the side of underwatering as most people kill orchids by overwatering them.⠀ ⠀ LIGHT: Keep them in a bright window, with mostly indirect light. Some direct sun is fine, but be careful not to burn them. I suggest a minimum of 2,000 lux (200 foot candles) but of course, the more you can provide, the happier your orchid will be.⠀ ⠀ Any phalaenopsis questions? ☺️⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #mrhouseplant #orchid #phalaenopsis #mothorchid #greenliving #house_plant_community #houseplantclub #houseplants #ihavethisthingwithplants #interiorrewilding #pausewithplants #peoplewithplants #plantdad #plantdaddy #plantgang #plantgeek #plantgoals #plantlife #plantparenthood #plants #plantsathome #plantslovers #plantsmakemehappy #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantstagram #therealhouseplantsofinstagram #urbanjungle #urbanjunglebloggers (at Washington D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFlJ-H8g7Vs/?igshid=1jhy107hmy84k
