As time travels on and we look forward to next year, let us remember that life’s refining fire made us who we are today.

Aches, pains, loss, tears, and sadness (those most easily remembered) are actually only a small portion...hot and difficult burns but still very important to who we are.

Smiles and laughter, happiness and joy (more common but sadly sometimes more difficult to remember)...provide a nice color and glaze to our lives that makes our days beautiful.

The digital kiss, the thought of your touch, hearing your voice, seeing your smile...these are the sparks that bring a passionate heat to my life. Sparks that are dreams of joy to come.

Eagerly anticipating more refining fire in my life next year.

...what do you smile at when the days are tough?

Today for me it was the simple pleasures: making a stranger smile, the smell of fresh air, a blooming flower on a cold winter day, reading your thoughts, hot cider, a good book, knowing you are happy.

Too many people have lost touch with the real world...the world of quietness, nature, breath and heartbeat, simple pleasures, true companionship.

I find connection in the silence, I find peace in knowing my place in the natural world. While being alone is important, being together with someone special is when we can find the meaning of all those feelings and emotions that we so often cannot understand when we are alone.

Hearing your feet padding along with me, your breath merging with mine in the stillness, knowing that one day this will be possible....hope...enjoying the silence brings hope.

I believe most people would be better off with more pain in their lives. And I think there's a self-induced aspect of pain - we desire the struggle, to overcome, to get through, to become confident allowing us to find greater joy in our lives. Also you feel like you can take on challenges that you wouldn't otherwise try, and you get to peaks in life that you wouldn't otherwise reach.

Having someone adds to this and together we can explore and endure the pain that makes us better.

Poor choices and past experiences has taught me:

To hold a book is to hold a friend....

to hold a friend is to hold a heart...

to hold a heart is to hold a life...

never treat her less than you would a book...she is far more precious.

Do your passions become overlapped? Intertwined with each other?

Don’t worry, there is nothing wrong with that. Your heart is more full than if you only had one.

The path which your flames of passion and desire follow is less important than you not letting the world or another person snuff them out. Enjoy life...be yourself...burn with passion.
