Imagine You and Me, a Perfect Movie for the Perfect Couple
It’s been a long time when I watched a Romantic movie, and as far as I can remember, the last one that I saw in the big screen is “You to Me are Everything” starring Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera in 2010. Fast forward to 2015, when the World (The Universe rather..) took by a fever that just started in a split screen romance of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza a.k.a Yaya Dub, very well known as AlDub. Indeed..We’ve seen them in every way we can ever imagine, that Everything happens for a reason and it comes in God’s perfect time.
7 months after that Record-breaking event last October, they treated the AlDub Nation with a movie for their anniversary titled “Imagine You and Me.” I’m very fortunate to watched it on the big screen and I just want to share with you my thoughts about it. Before we start, I would like to say that this post is an honest, spoiler-free, and unbiased review. There’s no one asked me to write about it.
In this review, I’ll rate the movie into 3 criterias. Storyline and Character Performance (total of 2 stars), Cinematography and Musical Score (total of 2 stars), and Overall Impression (1 star).
STORYLINE AND CHARACTER PERFORMANCE:
The movie mainly focuses on Alden and Maine’s role as Andrew and Gara and their love story. The formula for it is quite typical from the usual Romantic movies but what makes them apart from the others is that the humor and punchlines is on point, the chemistry is perfect and their characters are so light with just a little bit of heavy drama which is a good part though as a contrast to it. How I just wish however that they gave us a little more on Andrew’s personal life, but more than that, it’s great. Speaking of Characters, I want to give a shoutout to the casting team of IYAM on getting actors and actress who fit perfectly on the role, including Jasmine Curtis Smith, Cai Cortez, and Cacai Bautista (Yang Tataa?). They gave us color to the movie. Two thumbs up for them.
CINEMATOGRAPHY AND MUSICAL SCORE:
The Song choices on IYAM fits well in the movie. There’s a song in every mood, and I like it. My only concern is on the piano background of the movie, it’s quite plain but it gets the job done. Cinematography of the movie is for me, one of the best I’ve ever seen in a Filipino Romantic movie for so many years. Kudos to Direk Mike Tuviera for making it so beautiful and breathtaking. I’ve got the best experience with the SM Digital Cinema. From that, I want to get a passport and go to Italy, as in, right now.
From the Location of the movie, from the plot, cinematography, and to the characters, Imagine You and Me is really a great anniversary treat for their fans (including me.) There’s something on Alden and Maine’s eyes that I can’t really explain. Indeed, it’s a “Kilig tagos hanggang Bone Marrow”, and a S.E.B.O. Spectacular Chemistry, Exquisite Performance from the two, Breathtaking View of Italy, and an Outstanding Movie for all ages who believes in the power of fate and love. A must watch movie and I want to watch it again. Excellent job to all the people behind IYAM. Bow down….
