Rose's Shadow - excerpt from part 10
THIS IS FROM MY FANFICTION OUT ON WATTPAD ~JACOB FRYE X OC Thirty of us all raised our cups to toast. Jacob stood and jumped up on top of the table to lead the toast.
"Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we remember we are not invincible, but tomorrow we continue training to try to be," everyone began cheering.
Jacob gulped his drink down and then stepped down off the table, reclaiming his seat next to me. He snaked his arm around my waist and pulled me closer as the cheering died down and everyone began to eat.
Everything tasted as good as it smelled. After our meal a few of the women led the smaller children back to the houses for the night. The rest of us continued to drink and talk amongst ourselves in several small groups.
After a bit Jacob and I ended up sitting on the sand, close to where the water lapped at the shore, the water inches away from our out stretched legs.
Jacob kept his arm around my waist. I caught a slight chill as a brief breeze kissed our cheeks. A slight shiver rolled down my spine. When Jacob noticed he pulled me in tighter to his chest. My cheek was against his chest as his chin rested rested on my head.
I took a deep breath of his sent. Leather and mint. Jacob's other hand held mine tightly.
My discussion with Evie on the train replayed in my mind.
"Something on your mind?" Jacob asked quietly.
"Yes," I was reluctant to admit to him, but the idea of putting this conversation off any longer tore at me.
Jacob buried his face in my hair, "Tell me."
I shook my head, "I don't think I want the answers yet, I'm afraid of what you will say."
We stayed silent, content to enjoy the moment.
"What is happening between us Jacob?" I finally asked, drawing strength from his warmth.
"I have no bloody idea, but it is driving me crazy. The entire time I was gone with Liam I couldn't stop thinking about you. I wake up and I find myself looking forward to training with you," he admitted, "I keep waiting for you to shove my arm away when I pull you close to me, but you never do."
"I...I don't want to," my voice was barely audible.
I shifted myself so I was face to face with him, "Jacob, I think I'm in love you."
Jacob's hand released mine and found it's way up to my face. His hand cupped the back of my neck and pulled me closer to him. Our lips came together with a tender passion I never would have guessed he had. His kiss was gentle at first, slowly building as the moment continued. My hand tangled in his hair as I pulled him into me forcing our bodies together.
"I think I love you too Rosie," Jacob's childish grin made my heart feel as if it were about to burst.
