“himpathy” mmmm apt
also “false denials” https://youtu.be/QYDdupeU2vM
meanwhile on sensationalizing ol cbc an old white man wants you to know metoo has already gone too far and he personally will not be silenced (………??????) https://youtu.be/M5rqIjw-q0U hey old man, whats sexist to its core is framing metoo as “men, who are always the perp/accused vs survivors/accusers who are always women” (and why hes worried about metoo, well. sometimes people claim goalposts are shifting when what they did was yknow, against a widely known law and moral code all along & fromthegetgo. see also “wearing lipstick means you consent to harassment from your profs, stupid” https://youtu.be/6T47opnLyFw)(oh, and alan, did you ever meet jeremy irons in person? hows his von bulow, in your estimation?)
lindsey graham really laid it all out; he thinks appointments to the supreme court should be a process you can gladhand your way through and is insulted by the concept of actual due process, and he knows he and people like him are the ones with power and are actively trying to keep others from getting it. totally unamerican attitude. he should be a shriner not a senator. all these guys are expired. crusted.
re the cbc guest lisa bloom saying womens experience is different from mens because so many women have been sexually assaulted, abused etc, i will reiterate my point that men experience abuse at the hands of the same men at the same rate as women, and a huge part of this issue of getting men to believe coming forward is acceptable is not just overcoming their himpathy. its overcoming the societal norm you yourself uphold when you continually link being a survivor with womanhood.

THE major flaw of academia is the semiunique nature of its hierarchical structure, tho simply put the major flaw is its a false meritocracy long gone sour
A subpoint of that is, to be an academic 9 times out of ten youre necessarily precluded from developing any "realworld" experience outside maybe (maybe) the collection of your topic research, because youre too busy going thru the establishment rigamarole of hoopjumping until youre too burnt out and/or indoctrinated to take down even a single hoop inside or outside your superniche professional enclave, and youve got such bad tunnelvision youre saying (for example) petersonian shit to hundreds of young people for hours a day for months because you dont know what you don't know but youre convinced you must know everything because you jumped all those hoops and they were so high and onfire-y.
my experience is academics spend the majority of their time obsessing over two things: 1, departmental conflict involving tenure in some way, and 2, demonstrating authority over their topic (often meaning they occlude information to avoid challenge from students/academic peers) and by extension everyone who cant challenge that authority with a demonstration of deeper knowledge of their topic. in that order. ive seen people within the same department--let alone in interdisciplinary contexts where again 9 out of ten academics really let their infogaps show--fail to demonstrate even a passing comprehension of developments in their coworkers subfields, and infact lowkey yet active disrespect/hostility/unfriendly competition between members of the same dept was as common as gestures to the contrary

#1yrago Dieselgate kills 5,000 Europeans per year
In Impact of excess NOx emissions from diesel cars on air quality, public health and eutrophication in Europe, published today in Environmental Research Letters, researchers from Norway, Austria, Sweden and the Netherlands estimate that 5,000 early European deaths per year attributable to diesel emissions are caused by Volkswagen’s Dieselgate crime, in which cars were designed to sneak lethal levels of toxic emissions past regulatory checks.
Europe suffers some 10,000 early deaths due to diesel emissions per year; half of those are the result of Volkswagen’s cheating cars.
The deaths are not likely to decline until the haunted VW fleet is retired or patched.

what was the implict moral of this til? it seems to be less a critique of racism in america or the failings of colonial feminism than a gotcha along the lines of ....the bathwater baby? like some kind of take-the-good-with-the-bad vibe. ewww!!! no!!!
