It’s almost your birthday, my love. The big 40!! I wish every day, you were here with us. I know you miss your son the most and I know he needs you more than ever. He’s not sure about driving yet, but he realizes it’s best that he learns. I love spending time with him because I love him and I want to love him for you too. Seeing his smile and hearing him laugh really warms my heart and makes me so happy. I told you, I got you babe. I will always be here for Dylan. 

My memories of you are more vivid now; I think of you without crying (sometimes). I smile when I think of you; even though the feeling of emptiness quickly follows. I miss your touch and your laugh most of all. I miss my best friend. It’s funny how we would disagree on almost everything; fight and not speak at times, but we always had each other’s back. If only I could see you one more time, I’d make it count.

Strong for too long

I have been strong for too long... or is it being tolerable. Tolerable to people who have hurt me and abused me. Who didn’t know how to love me. My mom, for not ever hugging me and comforting me when I needed her most. My ex-husband, who knew I had so much too lose being a single mom so he took advantage of that repeatedly cheated on me. My sister’s husband who took advantage of me when I came over to see my sister. I’m finally tired. 

I’m tired of being overlooked and feeling so worthless. Tired of wanting to die every time I realize I have no reason to continue living.
