Mary is a warm and caring person. She is quick to defend her friends, no matter the consequences to herself. The girl loves wholly and completely in any form that it can take. Her mind is always set on trying to help others and do the right thing. Although, she always tries to stay happy, Mary can occasionally become withdrawn and quiet, scared to say anything in fear of doing something wrong. This is a part of her personality that came to light after Mulciber attacked her. To her, friends are most important and this means standing by their side in this war, doing whatever it takes to keep them safe and make sure their lives are as full as they can be. She doesn’t want them only thinking of what could be their death, she wants them to picture a life that has them all settled down and happy with someone they love. Mary wants them to be all they can and she will do anything to help them accomplish that.

–– ♡ ❛ + HISTORY !
Mary MacDonald was always the child her parents wanted. The brunette was caring, friendly and loyal. Her family wasn’t exactly wealthy, her father worked in a bank and her mother helped run a small shop down the road from their apartment in Glasgow. Her parents loved her completely as well as each other. She was brought up in a house that was filled with love and adoration, it helped to fuel her belief in happy ever afters and bring her to be a positive and warm young girl. At school, the young girl seemed to excel most in English, a passion for writing being easy to spot. Although, she struggled with things like Maths and Cooking, her parents never put her down, always encouraging her to be the best she can, even if it was writing stories of other words and making them magical. It was something that always had her believing in herself, believing there was something unique about her.
The brunette was a popular girl at school, constantly surrounded by people but always just having a small number of close friends she could rely on for anything. it was why when she got her Hogwarts letter at eleven, the young girl was anxious to know the truth about herself. Scared that her parents and friends wouldn’t accept her for who she truly was. Although, as much as it scared her, it helped her realise why she always seemed to feel a little out of place, a little like she was just getting by surrounded by people that weren’t like her. As much as Mary was never unloved and never alone, she couldn’t always help but feel like she was different and this explained it a lot.
When news came, the brunette’s parents couldn’t be prouder. They were pleased to know that their unique and special little girl was truly what they had always told her, had brought her up to believe. They were ecstatic that Mary would have two worlds to belong to, that she would have more of a choice when it came to what she wanted to do. They made sure that she knew nothing was wrong with her but also warned her not to tell her friends, letting her know that they loved her personality and didn’t need to know this little secret part of her. It wasn’t out of shame they done this but fear that something would go terribly wrong and their bright, warm and loving little girl would be broken.
Arriving at Hogwarts was the best thing for Mary MacDonald. The moment the Sorting Hat announced her as Gryffindor, she couldn’t help but feel relief spread through her, a moment of peace and serenity while she walked towards the table. As she took her first seat, Mary couldn’t help but feel loved and like she was home, like this was where she was always meant to be. And, like normal, Mary instantly made friends with the people surrounding her, becoming extremely close to a young girl named Lily Evans. Their friendship was a strong one, it was one where they were normally seen together and Mary always had Lily’s back, refusing to let anything hurt her friend. Eventually, as the years continued, Mary started to see Lily as more her sister than a friend, someone she could always rely on. The brunette didn’t just stop at making friends with Gryffindors, she had them throughout most houses, even the occasional Slytherins were nice towards her, something that caused her to have a constant smile on her face.
At least, until the day a Slytherin named Mulciber attacked her, leaving her to become a shell of what she once was. For a long time after that day in her third year, Mary was terrified of everyone in the Slytherin house, terrified of anyone that made a comment on her blood status. In fact, for the duration of the year, the young girl refused to even mutter the words Muggleborn in fear of what would happen to her. In fear of another attack being done on her. It wasn’t until the end of the year that Lily managed to snap her out of her fear, reminding her to be proud of her parentage and to never let fear get in her way. It was from that day on that she went back to being the warm and lovely Mary MacDonald everyone knew. However, there were times that she would go back into herself, scared to say anything to anyone. These were the times that worried her, that made her scared to ever go back to Hogwarts and be surrounded in that world.
That was why whenever she was home, her parents would help to develop her muggle education. Mary hadn’t told them the real reason why, a simple lie of telling them that she was uncertain if she wanted to stay in the Wizarding World for a career or if her life path was to be carried on in the muggle world.
This meant that Mary was well versed in both worlds, knowing information in both and exceeding in both with hard work that meant she could have almost any career she wanted in either worlds for her. However, in the middle of her sixth year, the girl realised her true self belonged in the Wizarding World. That was then her ambition to become a teacher in Hogwarts arose, a way for her to help muggleborn witches and wizards realise which world they wanted to belong in, which one seemed the best fit.
What do you do when you think you’re doing what’s right, but you’re really just confused and you feel like life is trying to throw you on the ground?
I was dying to hear someone say That I didn’t need to try so hard to be perfect, That I was enough and it was okay

She was a fighter. She really was. I’ve watched people tear her down, and then ask for her help. And she would help them. She would spend hours helping them. I’ve always admired and hated that part of her.
