NAME: Daisy Duck AGE: Forty-One SEXUALITY: Proud Bisexual HEIGHT: 5′4″ PRONOUNS: She/Her OCCUPATION: Fashion Designer and Owner of “Daisy’s Designs”
For most of Daisy’s life, it has always been just her and her mother. Her deadbeat of a father ended up leaving her mother for a woman ten years younger than them, resulting in her mother being forced to struggle for the sake of keeping the two of them afloat. And a huge struggle at first it was, the pair being forced to downsize from a cute little town home and into a crummy one-bedroom apartment because Daisy’s mother didn’t have the financial stability to pay for a home all on her own. The woman hardly even had enough money to put food on the table every day, and yet if there was one thing that could be said about Daisy’s mother— it was how hardworking and determined she was.
Daisy’s mother, Ms. Doreen Duck, was not the type of woman who was going to let a man put a stop in her. Was Daisy’s father a complete asshole for deliberately leaving his wife and child to fend for themselves? Why, yes, yes he was. But despite his actions causing problems for Doreen, his sudden absences only ignited a flame within her that Daisy will soon learn to appreciate as an adult all due to how hard her mother worked just for the sake of her daughter being able to still grow up with a fruitful childhood. The woman took up two jobs, one which was at a hair salon in which she worked at during the day, and the other was as a cleaning lady, which she did during the night. And because of that, most days the woman was hardly home for a long period of time and was constantly tired due to the limited amount of sleep, and yet despite that, Doreen always made sure to save some time just for Daisy.
There is no denial that her father leaving had put a change in perspective for Daisy. She may have been very young when he left, but she was also old enough to understand that him leaving meant that things were going to be different, and it turned out that it was. The apartment she and her mother had to live in was nothing in compared to their old town home. Daisy’s mother didn’t even have a proper bedroom, much less an actual bed as the woman choose to get a pull-out couch instead and gave the only bedroom within the apartment to her daughter. Daisy had argued that they could share, yet her mother insisted that the room was all for her and that she could do whatever she wanted with it as her mother refused to let their circumstances get in the way of Daisy’s development in life. This meant that though paying for her daughter’s schooling required taking up a few extra homes to clean in and staying out just a little more later, Daisy’s mother would do so because she wasn’t going to put a dent within her daughter’s education. The woman even found ways to pay for things her daughter wanted, as even if she may not have been able to splurge and spoil her in ways she use to before, she still was able to get things for her as to not let Daisy feel left out. All these things, Daisy both appreciated greatly yet silently cursed at her deadbeat father at for them being forced to live this way. And most importantly, Daisy marveled at the strength her mother had to be doing all this.
For years, it was mainly her mother doing all the hard work for the both of them and even when Daisy was around thirteen years old and had suggested to see if she could find a job to help, the woman shut that idea down and told Daisy that all she wanted from her daughter was for her to focus on her education and wait until she was older and found what she wanted to do before thinking about working. Daisy argued that she could do that and still find a job that surely was desperate enough to higher someone her age, but her mother said no and that was the end of it.
It didn’t take long for Daisy to figure out what she wanted to do even at a young age. Fashion. Whenever she would open up a magazine and flip through it, the girl would find herself staring at all the pieces a model would be wearing, marveling at how phenomenal and stunning they looked and wishing that she could wear something similar. Of course, due to their financial status, there was was no way Daisy could afford any of that and even basic and cheaper clothing items from fast fashion stores were sometimes not an option due to the price. And even then, she wasn’t so keen on some of the styling choices the stores were selling, and so this left Daisy with the alternative of needing to thrift for the pieces she wanted. There, she could go wild and pick up any pieces she wanted and try to make high quality looks out of them, and if there was a piece that she liked but wasn’t too keen of the design styling, than she could always try and fix it by up cycling them. And that’s exactly what Daisy did at first. But then as time continued to pass by, as enjoyable thrifting was, she soon started to realize that she wanted to do more than repurpose clothes— Daisy wanted create them.
Discovering a fascination over different types of fabric, the textures, the colors, the way one has the ability to stretch whereas others are unable of doing so, how a piece can shine and glimmer or how it could look so bold and sleek, and don’t even get the girl started in the actual designing aspect of it all! Fashion soon became a deep rooted passion for Daisy, and the girl just knew that she wanted to do more with these fabrics than just wear them. She wanted to create her own pieces out of scratch and have other people wear them instead. And so, she focus her passions on designing, still very much thrifting any unique pieces she could find and repurposing them in how she sees fit, but also now saving as much of her allowance she can to buy the actual fabric and create something new. The entire time, Daisy’s mother was supportive of her, chipping in to help her daughter in any way she can until Daisy finally became old enough to actually work (as long as it didn’t get in the way of her schooling) so that she can use her own money. Daisy even spent the majority of her own past time sketching up designs and trying to sew them into reality.
For years she harbored that passion, going as far as to major in fashion design and business while in college in hopes of pursuing in that field once she finished it And fortunately for Daisy, she was able to breach into the fashion world when she became the assistant of a well-known designer and trendsetter at the time, Ms. Glamour. The woman was able to make trends with every look she releases and even had the ability to make anything popular just by writing it into her yearly ‘IT’ list and releasing it into all of the local papers and commercials. Glamour was a big deal and the fact that Daisy was not only accepted into her fashion level, but was also able to work for her was a compliment and sure way of her breaking into the fashion industry herself. At least, that is what Daisy thought, as she figured that after working for Glamour for a few weeks or even months, she can try and show off her designs to the woman, hope she ends up liking them and will put her looks into the ‘IT’ list for the world to see. But it was easier said than actually done, and Daisy would end up spending years of working for the woman as an assistant before anything changed.
Although she was able to attend red carpet events and fashion shows as a tag along to her boss, Daisy found that working for Glamour wasn’t the highlight she thought it would be. Not only because she could never show off any of her designs to her boss without being cut off or having Glamour ignore her altogether, but making sure that each and every event Glamour held was as perfect and in place was exhausting. Daisy’s boss was hell to deal with whenever nothing went her way, and the one who often got the burnt of it all was Daisy. It came to the point where she nearly quit, but never did so over the sake that this was in fact her opportunity to get her foot into the fashion world. So if that meant that Daisy needed to work for this woman for a couple of more years, she’ll do it because one day—one day, she was sure to make a name of herself within the industry.
Then Daisy met Donald. The day they met was the day that changed everything for Daisy. It was during one of Glamour’s IT list parties, one of her biggest ones to date, and practically everyone within Echo wanted to attend but only those who had an invitation was allowed in. And guess who didn’t have an invitation but had tried to get himself in? Donald. At the time, Donald and two of his friends, were trying to sneak into the party in order to get into Glamour’s IT list. They thought that if they were added, it would help skyrocket their careers but in order to do so, they had to get into the party first. Now how they were able to get in, Daisy doesn't recall, what she did remembered was that at one point she was standing besides Donald as she waited to get inside an elevator, the two went in, and then a random power outage occurred causing Daisy to get trapped with Donald inside. That moment was frustrating for her as she had to deal with Glamour a few minutes prior and even had to control her anger as to not be set off, but the elevator suddenly coming to a halt, causing Daisy to fall against Donald— she almost gave up. She lashed out, letting go of some of that anger and frustration with only Donald to witness her. Any other man, and they would’ve probably been put off by her and yet Donald was able to calm Daisy down while letting her release whatever aggression she still had. And once she was calmed and able to think clearly, Daisy thanked Donald before asking him what he was doing at the party (for she knew he wasn’t part of the guest list as she had been the one to make it). He explained his reasonings, and though it was a bit selfish and very self serving, Daisy saw something within him that caught her interest and decided that she’ll help him get into the IT list. They had to get out of the elevator first, and it took an hour more before that could happen but that was fine by Daisy for she spent that entire time just talking to Donald and getting to know him. He wasn’t the most sophisticated man she’s ever met and admittedly, the way he spoke wasn’t the greatest either, yet Daisy found herself calm around him and she’ll admit, she found him attractive too.
Ultimately, in the end, Donald and his friends weren’t able to make it into Glamour’s IT list, but once the pair had gotten out of the elevator, Daisy was able to find the courage to actually speak to her boss and get the woman to listen to her. The woman even added one of her designs into the IT list as well (for Daisy wore a dress she specifically made for the party and Glamour actually liked it) and from that then on, Daisy was able to expression more of her fashion design than just be treated as a mere assistant. And as for Donald, let’s just say Daisy spent the rest of her free time at the party with him, going as far as giving him her number once it ended in hopes that he’ll call and she’ll see him again.
Dating seriously wasn’t much of Daisy’s forte. On the contrary, she has dated enough men throughout her life who scorned her bad enough to make her want to sworn off men entirely. And she thought about doing so, when not only considering how her own father scorned her mother, but also because she was as attracted to women equally as much as she was to men so it wasn’t like her options were stunted if she did. But at the same time she’s aware that just because the men she meet throughout her own life were trash, didn’t mean that every single one of them were. Mickey and Goofy were two examples of men Daisy knew who were actually good and if it weren’t for the fact that she knew they were perfect for her friends, maybe she would’ve tried her chances with them. But the attraction was hardly ever there and keeping them as a friend was preferable for her because then she could keep a watchful eye in case they hurt her girls and Daisy would have to do something about it. So instead of not being into men entirely, Daisy decided that she would just be casual with them and not get into a serious relationship in risk of getting hurt again.
Which makes her relationship with Donald a complicated one. After their initial meeting, Daisy saw Donald a few more times and even went on dates with him. He was charming and made her laugh, not to mention that he was really cute, and though at the start she had set on not being serious with him, becoming serious with Donald was exactly what happened. Dates that first began as cute little short ones of them having picnics at the park or going to the movies, soon became dates at each other’s home and spending full days together. And don’t even get Daisy started on meeting the family. Of course her mother knew about Donald as Daisy had mentioned him a few times before, but being introduced to Donald’s nephew’s? That was when she knew things had taken a serious turn because of how much he loved them. His nephews were more like his sons than his nephews and the day Donald said he wanted Daisy to meet them, she had to try and keep her composure from nearly fainting out of nervousness. At the time, she was conflicted on whether she wanted to meet the boys because surely Donald would introduce her as his girlfriend and if his nephews knew who she was, surely that also meant Donald intended for Daisy to become a fixture within his life. And at first, she wasn’t so sure if she wanted to be, but then she thought about how Donald made her feel and how he has yet to do anything to disappoint her besides getting randomly angry here and there, and realized that maybe trying a serious relationship with Donald wouldn’t be so bad. And so, Daisy agreed to meet his nephews.
Safe to say that Daisy fell for Donald. He was someone who she actually could imagine spending her life with, and with him entrusting her with knowing the important people within his own life, Daisy believed he thought the same. However, it was easier to think this than to actually let that happened because for the upcoming years, no matter how deeply Daisy felt for Donald, their relationship wasn’t the most perfect one. It wasn’t bad, as to say they hurt each other, but Donald could be too temperamental at times and Daisy was no better despite being able to control her anger better, and so the couple had gotten in more arguments than needed. Then counting the fact that she was promoted from assistant to Glamour to actual fashion designer, a good amount of Daisy’s time was spent working on designs while Donald’s was with his boys, so sometimes the pair wouldn’t get to see each other for days. And at one point, Donald did ask for Daisy to move in with him, claiming that the McDuck manor had enough space for them all and he even had his houseboat at the back for whenever the couple wanted privacy and admittedly—it was a tempting thought. But ultimately, Daisy decided against it. Moving in with him and his family would’ve felt like they were married and she was unsure if marriage was something she even wanted yet.
Though the love is still there and strong even, Daisy and Donald are constantly on and off. Some arguments become so bad, Daisy would find herself breaking up with Donald in fear of things becoming worst. It also didn’t help that because her current path in life was different from his, that she was still uncertain of where the future would lead the two of them. It’s not like Daisy has plans on stopping her pursue in becoming a well known fashion designer and she knew that in order for that to happen, there will be periods where she would be far away from Donald and his boys, and so she would feel like it was better to keep a distance. Daisy also didn’t want to tie Donald down to him, constantly telling herself that if he were to find anyone new during a period where they were broken up, that it was okay for him to date them even though in the end, she hopes that he would come back to her.
There are a only a handful of people within Daisy’s life who she views as important to her, and a small portion of those people she knew since back when she was very young. Two of them being Minerva “Minnie” Mouse and Clarabelle Cow. Daisy met both girls in high school, sharing homeroom and gym classes with each other. All three of them were different and yet they all clicked well with each other that it was safe to say that the rest was history from there as Daisy’s been best friend with the both of them even to this day. She loves Minnie and Clarabelle, they’re both her girl’s and if there’s one thing that she wanted for the two of them was the best. Minnie having inspiration to be an actress? You better believe Daisy hyped her up and helped in practicing her lines. Clarabelle needing help with the farm and animals? While Daisy wasn’t the type to get down and dirty, she would for her Clara. Minnie and Clarabelle are her girls and Daisy would literally do just about anything for the two of them. Has even threatened Mickey and Goofy a enough times in the past just to reassure that they were good for her girls.
Another person who was constant within Daisy’s life and someone she actually knew from back when she was younger was Lilah Deare. She’s someone who Daisy holds near and dear to her heart alongside Minnie and Clarabelle, and though Lilah’s older, Daisy feels as if she was responsible for her. Maybe it was because she was there throughout all the hardships Lilah had to go through in her relationship with Tristan and getting pregnant by him and their marriage once they married, plus counting Lilah’s almost marriage with Colin. Truly, one of the most endearing people Daisy knew and on more than one occasion, she wished nothing more to replace Lilah in all the difficult situations she had fallen into if it meant bringing peace to her friend. Even now, all Daisy wants is for her friend to find the happiness she deserves. If not for just for Lilah, but for her kids as well.
After becoming a full on fashion designer for Glamour, Daisy stayed working for the woman for another three more years before leaving the company to try and start her own. Her designs were starting to gain attraction then, with looks being showed in fashion shows and even Minnie wearing her pieces whenever she attended special events, and with social media becoming more prominent within this day and age, Daisy was able to promote for of her looks even without being under the thumb of one of the biggest fashion designers in the world. So, she left and though starting up her own label wasn’t going to be easy, Daisy was determined to make it happen. She just had to start out small, and so at the moment, she runs her own shop, “Daisy Designs” where she makes outfits and sells them. But one day, Daisy’s determined to make something bigger. It just takes baby steps first.
Her designs are starting to become well known outside of the isle throughout the last ten years and Daisy has attended more lower scaled fashion shows with a few of her own work being displayed.
Though she and Donald aren't married and half the time the two weren’t even together, Donald’s nephews like to refer her as ‘Aunt Daisy’ whenever they saw her. At first, it was because they were still too young to think of her in any other way that even now that they were all grown adults, the habit of referring her as such didn’t leave. And Daisy didn’t mind being called that. She adores the three boys greatly, and regardless whether she was with Donald or not doesn’t change the fact that she loves his nephews and will gladly be an aunt to them.
She can be a little temperamental at times but Daisy knows how to control her anger. It’s only when her buttons are pushed a lot for her to let lose and when she does—Daisy can get really angry.
Is very much a workaholic but is trying to fix that. She’s just so passionate about her work and wanting other people to see it, plus not wanting to find herself in a situation like that of her mother’s, a good chunk of Daisy’s time is spent focusing on work than on the enjoyment of life.
Enjoys flirting with people and being flirted to in return, however, it’s usually for fun and not for seriousness. Daisy is not looking to become serious with anyone and doesn’t want to risk getting hurt in the process. Donald’s a special case for her and whether she stays with him in the future or not, Daisy isn’t planning on making anymore exceptions if she could help it.
That said, if it’s not clear, Daisy does in fact has trust issues especially when it comes to men. A good amount of men has used her in the past due to her looks that even when she was aware that they were into her for those reasons, she still found herself trusting these men which resulted in them breaking them. Nowadays, unless she has known them for a really long time, Daisy finds it difficult to trust in any man. Even with Donald, there are still some doubts on him never hurting her because not even the worst of arguments they’ve had so far has been so bad where she didn’t feel like he didn’t love her anymore. Daisy’s just not so confident that she should put all her eggs into the basket and trust Donald completely.
Is high maintenance and does so intentionally. It’s one of her tactics to ward men away from her whenever she’s not in the mood and besides, Daisy quite enjoys her independency and knows she doesn’t need anyone to get anything for her that she didn’t already work hard for. Still, a girl does like to be spoiled and anyone who can handle her, she won’t be complaining too much over.
Adores and loves children with all her heart, but does not see herself having any in the future.
Likes to come off as classy and lady-like, and is often calling others “hun”, “dear” or “love.”
Whenever she’s overly stressed, Daisy smokes. It was a habit she got into sometime during college and one she retains to this day, and it works.
Most men are trash and there’s no changing her mind on that.
Is a firm believer that you’re never too old to pursue your dream.
