She's everything. He's just Ken.
Klaroline ▶ Most underrated moment in 5x11
↳ To me, of course. First, look at this cutie. Who could resist her? The smile Klaus gave Caroline after this so-typically-Caroline-facial-expression, was one of those he gives solely to her. It’s both an amusing and sad moment, because you can see in it that he missed this, that he missed her, but at the same time that he’s also aware he’s about to have to let it all go, perhaps for good this time around. Still, I think this nostalgic smile makes for a beautiful, true Klaroline moment, because you can see how much he still loves her after everything.
a series of unlikely crossovers: Halloween party in NOLA
It's nothing she hasn't seen a gazillion times by now, but it never fails to tug at Caroline's heart, warmth spilling into her bloodstream like a drug. Klaus has made himself comfortable on the chair he'd been slaying when Caroline shut the bathroom door, his back against the header. Eve, fed and changed into her onesie, is curled up on her father's chest while he reads her a story from her favorite book. Or rather, he pretends he's reading from the book, flipping through the pages so she can see the pictures and pointing things out to her all the while making up completely twisted versions of the fairy tales. Eve doesn't even care that a lot of what he's saying makes little to no sense, or maybe that's exactly what she loves about it. Klaus' story-telling talents fascinate her - which, Caroline has to give credit where it's due, is not by chance. The man does know how to tell a story, making full use of his flair for drama. Caroline kind of gets sucked into his fantastical, often age-inappropriate tales herself. The way words roll off his tongue like velvet in that accent is just magnetic. Eve is fighting sleep already, heavy eyelids fluttering shut. Klaus flips another page, adds another absurd detail to Cinderella's story, and she finally seems to doze off, lips parting as she nuzzles her face against her father's chest.

Klaroline Fic: When it's gone
Summary: Suddenly, Caroline hates how nice the bed feels. How soft the pillows are. How smooth and cool and expensive those goddamn sheets are against her skin. She hates the giddiness in her belly, like she's a stupid schoolgirl when she's not allowed to be one anymore. She hates how right the space between Klaus' arms felt, how easily she molded against him. His lips were as full and as soft as they looked, but his hands were gentler and more reverent than they had any right to be, and Caroline hates it. Hates it, hates it, hates it. She hates that it suits her, hates that she wants it, hates that none of it is hers to keep.
[Set after TVD S04E19 Pictures of You. Carolines hears about Klaus' impending departure after a mysterious letter and decides to have some words.]
---
Klaus had been a presence in Mystic Falls going on two years now. He didn't give any indication that he’d been thinking about leaving. Sure, he'd left a few times, and he'd spoken about wanting to hit the road once or twice, but not recently. Not that she knew of.
And why would you know about what Klaus is thinking?, a little voice that sounded a terrible lot like Tyler whispered in her mind as she did a bit of a risky move when she nearly missed a turn.
They were not friends, not like that. They didn't share, but they were, maybe... Friendly. Civil. Something. And she saw him just the other night, before prom. He was in a mood, but that's Klaus for you. Nothing out of the ordinary. By the time Caroline was done picking a dress, he was tame as a puppy. Or as much of a puppy as Klaus Mikaelson can ever be, anyway.
"You look ravishing," he said, his voice low and grave, dark eyes twinkling with something wild as he raked over her form.
That man did not look like someone who was about to skip town. There was not a cardboard box in sight. Not a suitcase lying in a corner. Not a painting had been taken down from the walls.
Her mind was racing with possibilities, but as soon as she crossed the gates into Klaus' driveway, she saw it. Workers, dozens of them, moving like ants, going in and out of the house, loading box after box into the back of the giant moving trucks parked outside.
Caroline's heart dropped.
She sat in her car for almost ten minutes, watching the men's organized march. They went in empty-handed, walked back out with a loaded box, some large enough to fit a grown person standing inside, loaded it into the back of the truck, went back in. They were so fast. Even with the amount of trinkets and secret trunks and dark objects and medieval torture instruments Klaus has, they'd be done soon.
He really was leaving.

light years | the unrequited carolijah trilogy
oh, the glory of it all was lost on me
'til i saw how hard it'd be to reach you

Elijah knew it was wrong.
His brother was happy, finally. For a thousand years that was all he had wanted, really. For Niklaus to find happiness — not gratification, not satisfaction or wicked delight at killing and scheming for power.
But actual happiness. The kind that made his eyes soften, that made him smile like he used to when they were humans.
And he had all that now. Whenever he was around Miss Forbes — Caroline —, he looked like Elijah had not seen him in a long while. Perhaps like he had never seen him before, truly.
Perhaps his brother would hesitate to use the word, but he was certain there was love in Niklaus’ eyes whenever they looked at her. Always searching for her presence in the room before anyone else’s. His eyes always darting to her face to catch her reaction, to seek her approval.
And she returned it in kind. With eyes rolls and occasional — well, rather frequent, truth be told — stern looks and those smiles… Niklaus’ breathing stopped for a second whenever she smiled at him like that.
And everytime it felt like a knife was being twisted deep into his stomach.
They were happy. And Elijah wanted that for them.
But shouldn’t he be happy, too?
A thousand years looking after his brother. A thousand years sacrificing everything for Niklaus’ sake… And where was his reward? Shouldn’t someone be looking at him like that?
… Shouldn’t she?
klaroline | james and lily au for @enniec123
This wasn’t how she had expected her life to go.
She was supposed to finish her school years at Hogwarts and get a job at the Ministry, work hard and maybe one day get the top job. She was supposed to travel and learn more about the rest of the wizarding world — she was American and she had never even visited Ilvermorny. There was so much to see, so much to learn.
But then…
Klaus Mikaelson had come in and swept her off her feet. They weren’t supposed to work. She was a Head Girl; he was constantly in detention for stealing books from the restricted section in the library. She had spent the better part of her school years despising him. He had spent them doing everything he could to get her attention.
It had worked. And she hadn’t regretted giving him a chance that day at Hogsmeade, when they had shared butterbeers and secretive smiles and stolen touches underneath the table.
He was everything she’d never known she wanted. Everything she’d never known she could have. He loved her, worshiped her. And then, even though she’d never taken a single divination class in her life, she suddenly knew that, no matter what shape her future would take, Klaus would be a part of it.
She was right.

Caroline takes the bracelet off the second she’s inside the cab.
Her fingers are shaking harshly, and the skin on her left wrist itches as if something is missing. She ignores it in favor of spouting the direction to Rebekah’s place to the driver. There’s this tugging sensation in her throat, the one she always gets when she’s about to cry but she’s trying not to, accompanied by a heaviness in her chest. It’s always been there, the weight. It never really left, but over the years she has mastered the art of pretending it isn’t there. Tonight it’s more pressing than usual, making her heave with every breath–sort of like the beginnings of a panic attack that never really occurs, only warns. She doesn’t know if she should be thankful for that or not.
Still, she’s Caroline freaking Forbes. She’s always known it was inevitable that they see each other again, with her being friends with his sister and said sister getting married next month. She wishes she had time to prepare, sure, but really given her luck it was only really a matter of time. She’s Caroline freaking Forbes. She’ll pull through.

Klaroline Fic: Spin [5/5]
Summary: Since she was seven years old, Caroline Forbes has been preparing herself to become President of the United States. But before she gets to the Oval Office, she needs to win the election for senior student president at the prestigious Saint Sebastian High - which would be in the bag if only goddamn Klaus Mikaelson hadn't decided to run against her.

Finale: All I Want Is Nothing More ✨
Their corner at the library has never felt so gloomy, they’ve never been this quiet. The librarian must be having a field day.
Not a single word has been uttered since the three of them took their usual places, half an hour ago. Elena has been updating the poll results on her phone every five minutes. She looks at it, scrunches up her nose and puts the phone away, screen down. It's all the reaction Caroline needs to know that they're campaign is all but dead. They’re over.
"I'll call it, then," Caroline finally starts after yet another long and sad stretch of silence, grabbing her own phone to check the results. She has to swallow back the tears when she sees the numbers on the screen. "Seventeen points," she speaks under her breath. This isn't just a fall from grace, it's fucking bungee jumping without a cord. "There's no way we can get back from this in time."
"I'm so sorry, Caroline," Bonnie says. "Enzo was my idea. I should've been more thorough with my vetoing process."
"It's not your fault, Bon. We all agreed he was a good idea."
"Fucking unbelievable," Elena spits out. If Caroline wasn't so despondent herself, she would be more shocked by the choice of words. It takes an ocean of rage for Elena to curse.

Klaroline fanfic update: A Good Bet
Working on a new chapter of my Klaroline story, A Good Bet!
Here’s a quick look:
Chapter 7
The doorbell rang, causing Caroline to poke herself in the corner of her eye with the mascara brush. Damn it. Now there was a goopy blob that looked like a giant mole. She normally applied a light coat just to look like she cared just enough about her appearance to avoid looking like an extra on The Walking Dead. It was a late night — between her shift and the drama with her patient and then that surprisingly tender moment with Klaus — she was exhausted. Unfortunately, she had to get ready for another shift at the hospital and she was running late.
With a sigh of irritation, she opened the door, still scrubbing at her face with a towel. “Look, I know we have an agreement, but I’m on the early shift and don’t have time for —” she stopped abruptly when she saw her mother standing at the threshold. Of all the crazy things that had appeared on her doorstep lately, this one was the most insane. She gaped at Liz, noting the slight tick of her jaw. Was she nervous?
“Why are you here,” she asked bluntly, not bothering to keep the bitterness out of her tone.
The stony silence raged on and on, an immovable wall between them. She’d been staring at it her whole life. Caroline squared her shoulders, mentally preparing herself for whatever horrible thing her mother came to say.
“I miss you.”
