Sasha had been in a standoff in her room for twenty seven hours between herself, the orderlies, the guards and an administrator. She did not want to go to any âgroup therapyâ. They could not make her. What were they going to do, force her? Sedate her? She sat in her room refusing to move until her demands were met. As though negotiating with a terrorist, the ordeal went on for the better part of a day and well into the night before they told her they would give into one demand and that was over the counter hair dye. Sasha, who considered a partial win still a win, happily accepted.
Now with her hair shining and smelling strong, she sat in the group therapy session with several other patients. She trying to put her hands behind her back to stretch the muscles when she heard the nurse speak to her.
As though she was asked to do an incredible chore, Sasha huffed before stating. âMy name is Sasha. Unfortunately, I know a lot of you drooling hogs. You all need ice picks through the brain.â
Nurse Packard scoffed at the girlâs ill-mannered statement. But, even with the outright lack of respect Sasha showed to others, Lynn wasnât afraid to admit to herself that the girl had spunk. Whether Lynn appreciated the girlâs audacity or not was a different matter, however.Â
âWould you care to elaborate? Iâm sure everyone here would like to know what you mean by that. Weâre all eyes and ears,â inquired Nurse Packard, putting the girlâs boldness to the test.
