I kinda like the idea of jax becoming a cautionary tale of what happens when you let dysphoria and self hatred eat you alive. I've met so many of him IRL in my own circles. I think people need to hear it. I need more characters who eat themselves alive and actually have to suffer the consequences of not choosing to be better. It's pretty refreshing to see a different and nuanced take on dysphoria and how it doesn't always manifest the way you would expect.

There’s so much to talk about here, but I think the thing that stands out to me the most, and I suppose this isn’t technically too episode 9 related, is that Caine/the circus force the cast to confront their issues/things they won’t accept about themselves. Be that for better or worse. This is strongly illustrated in their rooms especially, which your probably already know the contents off. Even Caine had to confront his issues, with him letting go of the second ai. Also everyone should go watch I Saw the TV Glow and think about Jax for a bit.

Also, bonus crack theory, gangle is Jax’s mom

wait hear me out-

ok so not to forcefully adopt this idea as an au from @katzebruh or anything (because i'm unreasonably insane about it for some reason, literally a dozen other caine-centric AUs out there that are infinitely more complex and compelling and i picked this one, fuck it dawg we ball) but my headcanon is that caine genuinely was testing out modifiers and accidentally fucked up forever, if i had a nickel- and he's super conflicted about it...

because on one hand... he's a silly cat furry thing now and literally whats not to love? the humans like it and admittedly doing kitty things is really nice sometimes! chin scritches have never felt so good, honestly he would figure out how to get rid of it sooner if everyone wasn't enjoying it so much!

on the other hand... yikes... an unfixable bug? one that screws with his brain? stop me if you've heard this one before-

something to think about with the whole dead internet theory thing, is that statistics like “51% of traffic is by bots!!!” could also be including things like web scrapers, who aren’t interacting with users at all and do visit a lot of websites very very quickly
