Dear my "unfinished business" Its been a couple months since we have talked. Thats how its supposed to be though. It weird, not hearing from you everyday, no good morning, no more facetime, no more of my best friend. Our relationship was toxic, it was clear to everyone except us, now it is just you. I realized you were bad for me the moment I looked into the mirror at a stranger. You say its my fault that we are over, that I gave up, that you "tried". You were right on one thing, I did give up. Maybe I gave up too easily, but it was not for no reason. I gave up because I have stuck around for so long holding onto the final goodbye. I saw the man I wanted and the man you can be, I dont know what happened to him. You set these standards for yourself then call me crazy when the things stops and I get confused. I let go because no matter how much you said you loved me, you didnt. You do not lie to someone you love, you do not play games, or hurt the one you love. So when I say you never loved, i mean you never acted upon it. One day, you find someone. I don't mean to sound cliche, but you will find someone. Every man has the capability to be an amazing man and stay that way, but it takes a special girl to bring that out of him. I got tired of trying to be that girl for you. I became exhausted on trying to be the girl you would love and cherish forever. One day you are going to find her and love her more than life itself, and more importantly you will love her more than you ever loved me. I want you to know.. If I could tell you anything right now, it would be thank you. Thank you for showing me how to love someone more than life itself. Thank you for pushing me away enough to make me realize that we are toxic to each other. We were just comfortable with each other, but I would rather be uncomfortable being alone, then be comfortable with someone who is just "comfortable" with me. I want you to know I still love you, hell im in love with you. After every lie, every minute looking at my phone waiting for a response, every phone call unanswered and every night i stayed up crying and screaming because I didnt understand how something so beautiful could make me feel like i was dying inside, I still love you. Loving you was not the problem, it was you loving me. I know deep down you truly do love me and probably always will because I am able to say the exact same thing. But I always loved you more. I guess all our "i love you more" fights, I won, every time. You are my unfinished business that I will always be curious about, I will always check up on every once in awhile to see how your life is doing. You are my addiction and i have finally gathered enough strength to walk away from you. Although I walked away, there will always be a piece of you inside me. You will always be in my eyes because you are literally, everywhere. You will always be in my ears for the music that comes through them. You will always be in my heart because you were the one who was able to take it in full, then leave me with half. You didn't do this by leaving me, because I am the one who left, you did this by not loving me to your full potential. Every day, you took a little of me away, and thats what a drug does. One last thing I don't want you to think, wow you are depressed, because im not. Im actually the best i have ever been. But I have taken the time necessary to heal myself from your repeated stab wounds to my soul, and i have found happiness within myself. I have accepted that our love was amazing and I will never forget it, but I will also never be put in the position again of choosing ones happiness over my self worth or my self love or my happiness. One day I will love again, but in a new and different way. You will always be my unfinished business. I will never be able to tell you these things because I know you wouldnt understand. So If you ever happen to stumble upon this open letter, dont second guess if I love you, because I do. I just finally learned to love myself more.
