Summer reading! Time for reading in the summertime with prizes and challenges and EVENTS! Summer reading! Kids, Babies, Teens, Adults, even your great-great-grandmother can sign up for Summer Reading!
If you live near me you can sign up for summer reading right here! (Even if you don't have a library card. Or have a library card from somewhere else. I don't mind!)
If you don't live near me, check out your local library! They (probably) have summer reading!
Children planted flowers today at the library to launch Summer Reading! It was very exciting.

We Keep What You Check Out
Hello! A friendly message from a small-town library.
When you check out a book, you are telling your library workers that you like that book! This will make them more likely to buy books like that one.
When you request a book, your library workers are delighted! This means they can buy a book they know you'll check out!
Libraries (like me!) have limited space, and so we go through the stacks periodically and remove the things that a) are in bad shape and b) have not been checked out. Importantly, when a book is in bad shape and has been checked out, they will usually buy another copy! Because people have been using it!
Tl;dr: We keep and buy what you check out. If you want more books of a specific theme or about a specific subject, check them out!

Books that take a few hours to read--books that can take months to get lost in, and everything in between!! Bookmobiles! These are a wonderful way to connect a library to the public it serves. I do not have one, but there are rumblings that soon we may acquire a bicycle-bookmobile, which would be very exciting!
