ABC Challenge

Inspired by the Author Challenge I saw around, but instead with book titles.

Words like "the" "a(n)" in the beginning of a title count, at first I didn't wanna let them count at all, but then I noticed that it would look absolutely horrendous in my notion board, because they would all be sorted in the wrong spot in the alphabet...

I don't want to give myself a strict deadline, as I just finished the HRCYED 2.0 challenge by Qwordy, I just want a new challenge to finally tackle my TBR backlog. So first I want to fill these letters with the books I already own and when I run out of viable options I add library books.

the great reading more journey ☼ part 11 one year hath passed! yippee

• screen time is ruining my brain, i want to read more and practice my review and analysis skills. that’s it, that’s the plot.

27.05.2026 // some reflections about the journey so far it has now been one year and one month since I started actively getting back into reading with the objective of reverting to a more focused & calm nervous system and undoing years of screen-time damage to my attention span and ability to stay focused. i will not come forth and lie and say it was a CONSISTENT year, but it was a year, and in that year i read more than the previous years. a win in my book! now, has it improved my focus? yes, a tad, but not as much as i hoped, this can be explained by the fact that yes i upped my reading frequency, but i did not lower my screen time hihi another bonus that i got from increasing the number of books i read and the time i spend reading (now averaging 2 hours per day) really improved my way of speaking and constructing my ideas, or more true to what happened, reverted it back to its previous capacities ahaha

June 2026 - Once Upon A Town

Such a warm, comforting, hug and a throwback to nostalgic childhood memories. You can literally smell the aroma of the filter coffee and hear the dosas sizzling in ‘The Famous Indira Bhavana’, the tangy mango slices with salt and chilli in ‘The Platform Below the Mango Tree’ and the lull of a lazy afternoon in ’Tea Time Before Dusk’.

These collection of short stories, set in a small town, bring out the small-town atmosphere perfectly - imperfections included. I like how the stories are interconnected, making it read as a cohesive whole. The beautiful illustrations suitably bring out the small-town vibe. Each story has something which reminds you of your childhood and makes you chuckle. For example, I still remember what ‘adjusting the antenna on top of the TV’ in ‘The Nine O’clock News’ meant, or the excitement and waiting for a brand-new, ‘imported Walkman’ in ‘The Purchase That Never Was’ was, and the thrill when ’the Walkman’ finally appeared in my house.

All the stories deliver moral values through narration of simple, ordinary everyday life events, making it a valuable read for children too.

In today’s fast paced world, where small-town experiences and relationships are becoming increasingly rare, these stories leave the heart warm, yet longing for a time that has long gone and for a slower-paced life.
