Terry and the birds
i keep thinking about the magic of moments. how small details can stay with you for months, years even. i keep remembering partial memories without any clear connection between then and now. mashing strawberries and pouring sugar in my grandmother's kitchen, the late summer sunset at a farewell bonfire, the first lick of ice cream on a hot day, watching a movie at the drive-in from the backseat while we swatted mosquitoes. some aren't specific memories, but a culmination of similar memories all wrapped into one. sometimes i try and connect the dots, tie the here and now to the then and there, trying to find a reason why i'm distinctly remembering the taste of wild blueberry pie while I'm drinking iced tea. but maybe the connection isn't in the memory itself but the feeling behind the memory. the pure, unrivaled joy experienced when i was younger and again now, as i'm creating new moments and memories. maybe that's all magic really is, joy in its brightest and rawest form.
