Meeting your Maker | Minwoo x Soohyuk
in a way, he’s glad. minwoo cherishes life—has rarely been among the ranks of tired immortals, weary enough of life that he considers ending it—and as such, he’s very glad he hasn’t been killed because of a defect.
at the same time, it had hurt. has he ever been good enough? apparently not—and while he tells himself it doesn’t matter, shouldn’t matter, will not matter, it still does when it comes from this man. this immortal being that exudes power. old habits die hard, and old habits of an immortal even harder still it seems.
despite the anxiety nestling in his chest in place of a rapidly beating heart, he still manages to find it in himself to roll his eyes. ❝i am so honoured you might consider me of any use.❝ it’s not even entirely a lie, and that’s the worst. it makes him want to bite his tongue and chase after his words, to swallow them and make sure they’d never reach another person’s ears. too late, minwoo supposes.
he cocks his head, eyes narrowing. ❝beauty❞ he starts, ❝has its uses—it is never worthless.❞ the younger suspects he’s being goaded here, and while he shouldn’t be, he feels offended by the outright statement of his worth. offended and hurt. so long he has been telling himself he isn’t, and now…. he tries to ignore the words, but it proves difficult. nonetheless, he stubbornly speaks up. the wariness and weariness of the years, the unease that has the hairs on the back of his neck standing up and the splinter in his heart have him speaking bluntly, lacking the respect he might’ve used a mere minute ago; his calculation is lost for a moment.
❝what do you want from me? clearly you’re not here for a social visit.❞
“Please do not humor me so.” Soohyuk burst out laughing. “Clearly this is not a social visit... because up to a few moments ago, I did not even remembered you existed.”
Shaking his head as he left the desk, he moved further away from the younger vampire. Showing his back to the other, Soohyuk observed the painting on the walls. “You are of use because even a insignificant pest have it’s uses.” Soohyuk explained, his eyes wandering around. “What was supposed to be an act of randomness led me to you. Perhaps... it’s fate’s way of making me give you a second chance.”
Soohyuk turned, glancing to the younger vampire. “Perhaps you might just be like a cockroach, surviving day by day without any much contribution, just like an insignificant pest.”
“Or I might be wrong about you all along.” A smirk crossing his features, and he passed the younger vampire to make his way out. “Either way, I don’t need anything from you. Just understand I’m back to cause chaos, especially for the Han family. Disappointment or...”
Soohyuk turned back, giving his spawn a once over. “Perhaps I might be surprised at what you might deliver. I’m subtly hoping to be surprise.”
The ancient vampire pushed the door open, pausing a mere moment before he left.
“I highly doubt it however.”
