02. BACKGROUND, ( tw mentions of death & drugs )

　　product of a one-night stand transformed into a loveless marriage, manny learns the meaning behind the word loss all too young. gone too soon is the message inked onto canvas at the funeral — the vigil is the earliest memory he has of his father. he pretends not to notice his mother’s sighs of relief as father’s belongings are tucked away; he was too young to put himself in her shoes, after all. while the emotional burden was lifted from his mother’s shoulders, it had just as easily been replaced with the weight of financial burdens. manny first learns of the word addiction at the age of ten. with a physically present mother whose mind and heart have never been further away, manny finds himself slipping into the semblance of the role of a parent to a younger sister.he tries to urge the jealousy away; finds himself envious of the fact that his younger sibling was not privy to the harshest details of their mother’s drinking. 　　his teenage years hit and circumstances at home have significantly worsened. manny is always looking for something to run away from; it's how his hobby of refurbishing vehicles begins to take on a more serious form. starts envisioning himself behind the wheel, providing him an escape from the four walls he's learned to resent. it starts off as a small job. informal requests made from classmates for cosmetic modifications on their first cars. the small jobs grow into something bigger, something with meaning, until manny resigns the unfathomable idea of enrolling in college and trades it for his first full time gig at a local auto body repair shop, paid under the table. as his mother's condition worsens, his dedication to work multiplies tenfold. he adopts the nickname chrome. says it inspires him. a strong metal, known for its resilience and durability. it becomes his trademark & every vehicle with a hint of chrome is said to have been touched by him. there's a sense of satisfaction that comes with making a name for yourself against all odds. 　　with a shift from cosmetic to motor work comes great risk, and he experiences his first real failure upon hearing the news that a car he's touched was involved in a grave accident — albeit no casualties. once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, and three times is a pattern. if asked to recall his worst memory, manny would cite the night of the car accident that claimed his younger sister's life with himself behind the wheel. despite the vehicle not being one he had worked on, he harbored guilt towards the tragedy for years to follow & spent countless nights perfecting his own vehicle modification skills, a silent vow to never let something like this happen again. when he joins the prowlers, it's under the name chrome; known for his ability to maximize a car's safety while stretching it thin to the finest of limits.

first and foremost, after everything, he takes his work extremely seriously but it is important to note that it’s the only thing he takes seriously in life </333 he struggles greatly with responsibility and won’t take any on out of fear of being held accountable

survivor’s guilt trope to the maximum but survival is just the mere fact of living to see another day. like i can’t explain it he just feels guilty about everything all the time...

i didn’t delve into it too much in the bio but he inherits his addictive personality from his mother and has been struggling over the last few months which does affect his relationships and interactions but he’s trying to take it day by day atm

a true yearner by nature… since he hasn’t ever had the luxury of being a priority to the people he considers closest, he yearns for that feeling (and replicates it with substances for the time being) but tends to put people on pedestals & over assumes his place in others’ lives

he’s known for being the mechanic who works on a strict 1:1 safety to challenge ratio except as he starts caring about his life less and less, he starts caring less about the lives of others as well.. fdjgodsjdsojsdf 😔

04. WANTEDCONNECTIONS,

i would love a genuine ride or die best friend plot for him like the person who can call him at 5am and he will be there and vice versa… they likely get into bar fights for each other… do u need help hiding a body? manny will be there

i would also like a plot involving someone he has a soft spot towards 🤨 this person likely knows or at least senses that he harbors some sort of feelings for them but they don’t acknowledge it. bonus points if they don’t want to give him the time of day, it’s just convenient </3

a person he often runs into @ coyote casino and might judge him for his gambling but neither mentions it. or maybe they do. maybe they bicker. >:)

i need to add more but its 3 in the morning and this is still a wip i fear...
