“oh my god!” she said with a squeal at the sight of the pink hair. “that looks so cute, what the fuck, how do you even pull that off?!”

Alexia was in the studio, being bored as she mixed a song for one of the many people that now came to her even though she had no idea why. But she was dancing to the song before realising someone came in. “That was embarrassing. What’s up?”

mattie was just finishing up her work, walking out of another studio to leave the building when she heard a beat she liked and couldn’t help but go to see who was playing it. “it’s okay, i’m sorry for bothering you.” she answered with a little laugh. “that song is such a bop... did you produce it?”

“I don’t get why anyone would want to go camping, like don’t bother signing me up. I dealt with enough bugs in the City, why would I want to deal with them in the middle of no fucking where?”

“it’s not that bad. i’ve actually been to summer camps before, which i know are a little different from normal camping, but still. you just get used to everything.” she answered with a small shrug. “besides, it’s just for a weekend and you aren’t required to go.”

“Honest? Not really but you can’t stop people from talking so I just deal with it.” Mattie was one of the few people she was completely honest with about her few feelings about things as she mostly didn’t care about most things. Jezebel laughed before shruggin, “maybe because it’s me and not some hot random chick?”

“that’s understandable.” she nodded, twisting her lips for a moment, knowing jezebel would always be honest with her. “well... you’re not random... but you’re- you’re... hot.” she whispered the last word, a little embarrassed to actually admit that out loud in non joking manner.

“i don’t know, man. apollo is my dad, but i’m not sure if aphrodite had something to do with it.”

“neither. beastie and mat hatter are the ultimate ship.”

“beastie, of course. she’s probably the one one i’d consider a best friend.” she answered. “i have other friends though, because there’s a difference between a friend and a best friend.”

“Like everything else about my sex life is up for grabs unless it’s something special,” she sighed as she knew she couldn’t recount the last time she had something special with someone. She looked over to Mattie, shrugging. “Who said I wasn’t serious? I would totally have sex with you, Mat Hatter.”

“and do you like that?” she wondered curiously, never understanding the logic of her best friend most of the time. mattie narrowed her eyes at her, not believing what she was hearing. of course, they would joke about it a lot of the time, but now jezebel looked serious and mattie felt lost for once. “why am i intrigued yet... not really?”

“And they do and I laugh at them but I prefer something that serious to not be all out there as just me hooking up with girls ‘cause I didn’t want to be with guys that summer, you understand? We should go out.” She said before laughing, sipping her coffee. “I don’t know, am I?” She raised her brow with a sly smirk.

“kinda.... yeah.” she nodded slowly, eyebrows knit together as she headed for the door. once they were out, she held the coffee with both of her hands that were covered with her flannel’s sleeve, the cup being too hot. “jezebel waters, i’m serious. i’d let you fuck me but don’t mess with me like that.”

Jezebel shrugged with a nod. “Yeah, but you know, the whole everyone assuming I’m as straight as a pole, I didn’t want any questions as it was a few flings. Well, that is sadly true,” she teased Mattie before their coffees arrived and she grabbed hers. “We could always hook up if it makes you feel better.”

“so what? people could say whatever you want. wanna sit here or should we go out?” she asked, taking her own coffee too. mattie raised her eyebrows at her. “are you for real right now? it was all jokes, you know.”

She walked with her friends casually with a small hum. “’Cause I wasn’t sure how you would respond, you know? Remember I had a boyfriend even though it didn’t last long so I hooked up with these hot girls over the course of the rest of the summer.” She admitted with a shrug.

“beastie, please. have you met me? i’m not going to judge you or anything like that. i mean, not to toot my own horn or anything, but i’m such a supportive friend, you’re not going to survive without.” she tried to say seriously, although she knew she couldn’t take her own words that serious, even though she meant all of it. “well damn, and i haven’t hooked up with one single girl before, the fuck?!”

When she got her card back, she faced her friend with a smug look. “I just told you I’m not straight, dear, but I knew you would catch on. And hey, how could I be straight? Girls are gorgeous as fuck and I did dabble during the summer,” she winked.

mattie moved to the counter where they could pick up their drinks, turning around to look at jezebel. “are we talking summer as in last year?! why am i just finding out about it?” she looked offended as she spoke.

“fair point.” she nodded, her bottom lip stuck out in a way that said she agreed. mattie then nudged jezebel with a small ‘bitch, you said you’d pay!’ and a giggle when the person behind the register told them how much. “because your ass probably thinks that ‘going gay for you’ joke couldn’t be taken seriously.”

She just smiled as she took her wallet out, grabbing her credit card before handing it to the cashier as she nudged Mattie back. “It’s not ‘going gay for you’ if you’re not straight, my dear one.”

mattie raised her eyebrows. "that joke was made before i knew i wasn't straight- wait..." she stopped when she realized what exactly jezebel just said. "did i misunderstand that or did you just tell me you're not straight...?"
