One of Los Angeles’ hottest rising all-star cumbia bands, VIENTO CALLEJERO sets the stage to continue the momentum they have built up through their smoldering live performances around the city, earning their reputation as one of the newest and freshest takes on the L.A. cumbia sound!
After their triumphant debut at Mucho Wednesdays on January 22nd, 2014; Viento Calljero was asked to return for a residency by Mucho Music for the month of May at Los Angeles’ legendary Latin Indie Pop dance party, Mucho Wednesdays!!
“We believe strongly in the Viento’s talent and in their potential to make a substantive contribution to the local Latin Indie scene, and global cumbia music. Similarly to the few other bands we have had in residency, we felt that Viento needed a larger space to grow their audience and cement their reputation as a fantastic live act.” Said Ricky Garay of Mucho Music.
These Two nights in the month of May (Wednesday the 14th and Wednesday the 28th )will also serve as major fund and awareness raising opportunities for their upcoming debut record!
Kickstarter:
Viento Callejero is currently busy at work on their debut album, featuring a who is who ofLatin Indie musical talent! In order to be able to independently record and release this record, they are launching a Kickstarter campaign. Please visit their campaign profile if you would like to contribute.

Eddika, Leah, and Martha join them on thier first single planned for release very soon, which is a version of the cumbia classic, “La Burrita”
For these two very special performances at La Cita Bar (336 S Hill Street, L.A., CA 90013) , the band is inviting a different set of musical guests to join them each night just as eclectic as the many guest performers on their album! Both nights guests are a total surprise, so only the band knows what to expect!

Our photographer La Madre Is Watching was up front shooting pics, when she was inspired to capture this moment in video on her phone. What is important to point out is that in Los Angeles, rarely do people dance to anything that is not Cumbia anymore and much less to a band they were just introduced to. Obviously they were encouraged by the magic on stage and by the fans that did show up that did know the words, in any case, we can't say enough about HOW MUCH FUN we had with SVPER. We wish them all the best and we HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you support this duo, and go see them if you can!
SVPER at Mucho Wednesdays March 19th, 2014!!
#OnceAgain another Los Angeles DEBUT takes place at Mucho Wednesdays! LOS ANGELES, California (March 19th, 2014) SVPER (formerly known as PEGASVS) Live and direct from SPAIN via SXSW as part of Mucho Wednesdays at La Cita Bar in Downtown Los Angeles. SVPER plus Edith Crash One of Spain's (Barcelona) hottest rising stars in the Latin Indie scene brings their synth driven dance party to the West Coast!! We've been fans of SVPER for years now and we couldn't be more excited to be hosting this critically acclaimed duo!!! ABOUT SVPER: Sergio Pérez (co-producer and collaborator of El Guincho) and Luciana Della Villa (ex-member of riot grrrl-inspired Bcore trio, Sibyl Vane) have, for over a decade now, been entrenching a backbone deep into Barcelona’s musical landscape. Originally named Pegasvs, they were forced to change their name last year for legal reasons just before playing México’s Vive Latino. This eerie-pop electronic duo first emerged back in 2011 with only three demos on Soundcloud and a live video of ‘El Final de la Noche’, produced by the internationally acclaimed directing collective, CANADA. About our party for SVPER in Los Angeles!!!! MUCHO WEDNESDAYS Featuring the Mucho DJs / Frank Leopold, Noir, and Purdy Ricky Spinning all your favorite Latin jams all night long! ▲▵▴ MUCHO WEDNESDAYS ▴▵▲△ 9-18-13@ La Cita Bar
Six years ago, a small group of friends (Ricky Garay, Land Romo and Marjorie Garcia) decided that they wanted to dance to Spanish Pop music, all night long. No filler!
A vintage down town night club which was synonymous with an older Mexican crowd had just recently been over run by a younger anglo crowd and became the hottest night spot in down town. La Cita.
The new owners were open and receptive to connecting with a younger Latino audience, the rest as they say is history.
Mucho Wednesdays was the birthplace of this current wave of rising Latin Indie stars and now even Grammy award winners, and the cradle of the MUCHO sound was created over the course of many many Wednesdays by the Mucho DJs Frank Leopold, DJ Noir, DJ Pajaro DJ Prettty Ricky.
Everyone said that this could not be done, it wouldn't work, and while it took a few months for people to really learn about what was going on, and the encouragement of Pilar Diaz (aka Maria Del Pilar) to start presenting live music, eventually Mucho Wednesdays exploded onto the L.A. scene with their ground breaking DJS and this new generation of unknown Latin Indie talent!
We would like to cordially invite any and all of our Mucho friends we've made over the course of six years, all the musicians, managers, brand friends and allies to come and join us as we raise a glass to this community that has fostered the development of so many artists and created a safe space for all of us to come together, enjoy music, celebrate each other and feel comfortable being ourselves….THIS is the official Six year anniversary celebration of Mucho Wednesdays…established in 2007.
Beinvenidos,
Salud!
Welcome to The Down Town Sessions debut episode, featuring singer songwriter Vanessa Zamora, from Tijuana, Mexico.
The Down Town Sessions was created and developed by Mucho Music to document, showcase and highlight Latin Indie or Latin Alternative artists that work with Mucho Music here in Los Angeles.
When it comes to the talent that we present at Mucho events, we have bands from not only the United States but also from all over the world; and while they are visiting our stage we will take that opportunity to personally introduce them to our audience, find out what their story is, and more precisely, what the story is behind their music.
