With all the reading that was constantly required in college and grad school, I fell out of the habit of reading for pleasure. Then I went through my first heartbreak and every time I sat still long enough to try to read my mind went to very unfortunate places. 

I’m finally back to a place where reading is happy-making for me so I’m challenging myself - one book a month for a year (it’s a lob, I know, but I’m trying to ease into it). Anyway: here’s what I’ve done so far.

Down The Road Brewery

Very cool vibe, pinball machines everywhere, plenty of board games, food trucks outside, and really great beer. I had the Darkest Night - 15% and delicious. 

(Not the easiest to access by T but if you drive there’s plenty of parking!)

Quick 9 minute walk from Venice Beach. Had a great time picking out my favorite homes and thinking about whether I’d wanna live in a place like this. 

I think probably short term only - couldn’t handle the consistently close proximity to such a high concentration of tourism.

The Paramount in Downtown Boston. Delicious but the line is out the door 20 minutes after it opens and its elbow to elbow. For me? Worth it.
