hey just so everyone knows, It Was A Draft
the supreme court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is not official yet. someone leaked a draft of the opinion that the members of the court have been circulating and revising (the draft was created by justice samuel alito).
which is insane by the way. it’s the first time that a draft of a supreme court decision has ever been leaked in the entire history of this country.
it makes perfect sense to feel grief or panic or dread or sadness or anger or whatever you’re feeling right now. this is fucking terrible and scary. just for the sake of avoiding misinformation, i wanted to clarify this because i think a lot of the headlines have been misleading, and the info gets even more misconstrued when it’s rephrased on social media and stuff

Whizzer: what should I get your dad for his birthday?
Jason: Medication.
Me: *goes into doctor strange 2 thinking that Wanda will team up with Doctor Strange*
Wanda in MoM: *murders hundreds of people, turns John krasinski into spaghetti, slices captain carter in half, kills professor x AGAIN, is the main antagonist*
Me: 👁👄👁
two wizard dads protect adopted daughter from deranged soccer mom.
That's it. That's the movie.
It kinda makes sense that no one dug deeper into Evan’s stories and the emails.
No one else really knew Connor enough to contest them or provide reasons why he couldn’t have been doing something with Evan at a given point in time.
Everyone else was also pretending that they knew him, though to a much lesser extent. If they called out Evan’s inconsistencies, they would also inevitably reveal their own.
A lot of people who have known someone who committed or attempted suicide have reported a kind of calmness leading up to the event. People could easily have interpreted Connor’s “getting better” in the emails as being a sign that was overlooked.
Who would actually go and fact check the letters between a boy and his supposed best friend who just died? That’s a bizarre and invasive thing to do, especially if there’s a chance you could be wrong. Most people wouldn’t risk that, I don’t think.
The Murphys specifically probably wanted to believe that Connor had had someone and had some happy memories. So they didn’t dig into Evan’s stories. Especially since Evan is clearly an anxious person who would definitely have been scared off by further prying even if he wasn’t lying.
Evan knew just enough about Connor that he could fabricate by filling in the rest. If he knew from looking around Connor’s room that Connor liked X thing he could talk about how Connor had spoken about it while hanging out.
Evan’s habit of making it seem like he was omitting things in his stories. This could easily be explained by Jared’s “secret lovers” angle and Evan seeming to not want to divulge parts of their supposed relationship for certain reasons.
she can do whatever the hell she wants!! you go girlie <3
Happy Mother's Day to Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, Harbinger of Chaos 💖
shoutout to that dude that said “the peggy scene broke my heart” as everyone was leaving the theatre and shoutout to the other dude with him that took ten seconds to reply and said “………in half?”
If I had a nickel for every time Patrick Stewart’s Professor X has been murdered on screen by a red-headed woman who used to be a hero who could read minds a little and had some telekinesis but then gained godlike powers to alter reality at will making her nearly unstoppable and eventually evil, I would have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.
Disney: So Wanda is the antagonist of MoM. She wants to steal her children from another universe-
Fans: Oh I get it! It’s like a reverse “House of M”, right? Wanda tries to pull Billy and Tommy into her universe, and accidentally brings mutants into the MCU, easily integrating the X-Men franchise you got the rights to from the Fox merger with the Avengers. That explains why Professor X is in the movie.
Disney: Oh. No, that isn’t it…
Fans: Oh. Well, what’s the plot of MoM then?
Disney:
obsessed w them

@pathetic-gamer is the funniest person on the planet
I think the moment that convinced me the operating logic of our society is truly fucked in a way that cannot merely be reformed was after that eclipse in 2017 when the articles started coming out about how much money had been lost by productivity dropping from people stopping momentarily to watch it happen. To measure the world by the metric of the dollar to such a devotion that any cult leader would be jealous of that you would look at one of the most sublime experiences in nature which we, our ancestors, and even a not insignificant number of non-human species, have been observing in awestruck wonder for millennia, and decide that such a moment of profundity is something to be fought and preferably expunged from the human experience because it briefly impacts quarterly revenue.
It's a feeling that has been coming up repeatedly, but with increasing frequency in the last few years. That being: what is all of this for? Where are we going? Nobody who defends the status quo can seem to answer it. What's the point of an uninterrupted quarterly revenue stream if we can't even look at an eclipse every few years? What's the point of hustling and grinding 50, 60, 70 hour weeks if you never have time to have dinner with your friends, talk to your family on the phone, but on a bigger spectrum, what's the point of all of that if you still don't have any way of retiring in the future? With the way that our lives are being increasingly monetized and squeezed every second, what is there to look forward to?
