Muggle in a town full of Magic

She nodded before running to his car. It took her a minute or two to find the device he was on about, if the situation hadn’t been a serious one she’d probably taken a little longer so she could look at it and try work out its purpose but as there was a woman’s well being depending on the small rectangular thing she rushed back with it as quickly as she could. “Here you go.” She replied shoving this brick like device into his hands, before kneeling down next to the woman once again. “Now what?” 

He knew that he was dealing with a witch, someone like Sophia, and knew that he would have to try and make this as simple as possible for her to understand. He could ask questions later, the woman in front of him was more important. “No, I’m gonna need you to make the call while I try to help her the best I can. Look, you can do this okay?” He replied calmly as he passed her back the phone. “I need you to press the nine button three times and then the green one with a picture on it.”

She caught the keys, but still looked at the male clueless. They didn’t have time to explain what he was on about though. “What will it look like?” She asked decided it would be quick if he just told her what she had to look out for. 

“Small, black and it has numbers on what look like soft cushion things.” He attempted to explain with furrowed brows as he watched her. Though slow realization hit him as he realised what her lack of knowledge could mean.

As hard as it was, Sophia needed to be selfless, for the first time in her life. He was not safe here, especially whilst she was around. The Order did not care for her, and she had done this to herself– she was the enemy now, even if she did not want to be. “Ross..” She sighed, closing her eyes momentarily, before looking back at him. “You’re not safe here—- I’m not a good person to associate with, I’m a prisoner here for what I’ve done.”

He took a step closer to her, concern filling the whole of his being as he watched her whole demeanor change. “What do you mean you’re a prisoner?” He took her hand gently in his own. “I don’t care, Sophia. I’m not going anywhere. I don’t care what happens to me.”

“I think it’s a little too late for that.” She stated stepping forward almost cornering the male in. 

“What is it you want?” He watched her wary.

Astrid nodded, not mentioned the fact she hadn’t tried going for help yet. Instead she’d tried checking the woman over trying to see if she could help herself, knowing that if she got someone she’d probably be blamed for the woman’s current state. “Okay.” The brunette nodded vigorously, pushing herself up off of the ground before holding her hand out for his car keys. Just as she went to leave she turned to face him again. “Wait… What’s a phone?”

His attention was split between the young injured woman and also coaching the other young woman through what was going to happen, he’d always been good at multitasking, after all it came with the job. What did manage to surprise him though, was her question. His head snapped back up with furrowed brows as he threw her the keys. “You know, what you make calls on? A communication device?”

“I-I don’t know, I walked past and saw her. I don’t even know who she is.” The brunette explained her voice laced with panic as she withdrew her hands so the male could check her over. 

“Hey, it’s okay. You did the right thing by looking for help.” That’s at least what he assumed she was doing or at least about to do. “Look, I’m gonna need you to run to my car over there and grab my phone. You’re gonna have to call for an ambulance, okay?”

Her brows furrowed, eyes turning to the guards, knowing too well they wouldn’t let her have a moment with him. She heaved a sigh, turning her eyes to fixate on him. “Ross, I can’t.” She sighed, lips pressing together in unease. “You’re going to have to trust me when I say you need to leave— I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t necessary.” She pleaded with him, eyes full of worry, something of a rarity to her.

Seeing that she kept glancing behind her to the others, he figured that it had to have something to do with her world. He could remember her mentioning that it could be dangerous for him to know about magic and that it was against the rules for him to know any of it. “I get that, but while you look scared I’m not going anywhere. I don’t care what happens to me, I’ll take my chances.”

“Well, that’s a shame because it looks like you just ran right into it.” 

“I don’t know what your problem is, but I don’t want any part of it.”

Astrid cursed looking back at the person who had just walked into the room. “I found her like this, I swear.” 

“What happened?” Ross asked apprehensively as he rushed towards the body and crouched down to take her pulse. “She’s alive. Just.” He chewed his lip worriedly as he tried to think of the best cause of action.

“Look, I’m just looking for my friend okay? I don’t want any trouble.”

It was him; her eyes growing wide as she was reminded of everything, and instantly felt regret and fear as the men stood beside her. “Nothing— nothing at all.” She denied, eyes moving to the males. “You need to go, I’m fine.”

His eyes glanced to the men around her and felt unease about the whole situation. “No, I’m not going anywhere. I’m not leaving you.” His tone was almost as if he was stating the obvious. “What is going on? What aren’t you telling me?” This time his words came out more of a whisper.

      “I should have expected it to be too good to be true.” The female huffed, glaring at the guard who held her captive. All she had wanted was freedom, not to be back where she had begun.

“Sophia?” Of course he was surprised to see her. “What’s going on?” He questioned staring at the men behind her.
