Ethan’s brows furrowed for a moment as he looked toward his former best friend, head shaking. He barely recognised her, she had changed so much in personality yet.. She looked almost the same. “What happened to you Soph? What happened to cause you to be so.. So bitter?” He questioned her, concern lacing his tone as he allowed his gaze to fall to the ground. The information he had just been given was a lot to process and, he knew he would have to be the one to tell Natalia but.. He didn’t know what that would mean for them. A hand fell back through his hair as he peered back toward the brunette. “You were our friend..” He spoke, he couldn’t quite believe that she could have done such a thing but.. It would explain Natalia’s hostility toward him when he had thought she was the one to do the cheating..

She hated the words that left his lips, perhaps deep down she knew what she had done had been selfish but she also could not cope with being alone. When Natalia and Ethan got together, she had been ignored, and felt more alone than she had ever truly felt. She had lost her friends, and this made her actions callous. “You don’t get it, I lost my friends the moment you got together.” She spoke bitterly, eyes locking with his. “You made it quite clear, I had no choice, I was alone thanks to the love you two shared.” She sighed, shrugging her shoulders. “Never mind-- looks like we aren’t friends now anyway so none of this matters.”

“I care, Phia.” She replied almost immediately. “You don’t deserve this, and I don’t want to watch you do through it.” She could see her sister slowly slipping away and truly, she hated it. “If there’s any chance to rid yourself of that label, then shouldn’t you try?”

She could see her sisters reasoning but it had been too long for Sophia to continue proving herself. “I have been imprisoned for far too long, proving myself now is doing me no favours.” She rubbed her temples and sighed, looking up into her eyes. “Surely you can see where I am coming from.”

Ethan watched the young woman, listening to her speak before his lips parted, eyebrows furrowing. “I didn’t cheat on Natalia, you know that. You said she-” The cogs in his mind began to turn as he studied a few memories. “You said she cheated on me. You-” He stopped once again then quickly shook his head, taking a step back from her, shaking his head as the truth finally dawned on him. “You lied…” Ethan breathed, his voice filling the silence that surrounded them. “How could you be so heartless?” He asked the girl, one of his former best friends. The girl he knew her to be would never have done such a thing yet, perhaps he didn’t know her all that well at all.

It had been many years since she had created such a lie, one that sometimes burdened her mind, but one she had learned to push to the back of her mind and forget about. She had been a jealous teenager, watching her two best friends get closer together, and it angered her beyond belief. That was when she made up the lie, to ensure that her friends remained separate, and she had both of their attentions afterwards. Her plan had been foolproof, although now, she knew she had been petty. But as she kept up her act as a Death Eater, she continued to sound careless. “You’ve finally pieced it together, good for you.” She mused, a chuckle leaving her lips. “I’d say petty, not heartless. Teenagers do some careless things.” She chuckled, shrugging her shoulders. She did not truly care what he thought now, her mind was elsewhere, and she knew she had lost him as a friend far before she revealed the truth.

“You won’t spend your life imprisoned.” Cara protested, a frown still lining her lips. “You have to keep fighting to prove your innocence. If you align yourself with them, then no one will believe you.” Cara had even found herself confused and doubting her sister.

Sophia could assume her sister thought the worst of her, and she had every right to considering what had happened. She only wanted freedom, that was all she wanted, to restart her life from where she left off. Yet, she always found her back to being a prisoner. “Prove my innocence to who? No one here cares if I’m innocent or not. I’ll always be a Death Eater to them.”

Seeing that she kept glancing behind her to the others, he figured that it had to have something to do with her world. He could remember her mentioning that it could be dangerous for him to know about magic and that it was against the rules for him to know any of it. “I get that, but while you look scared I’m not going anywhere. I don’t care what happens to me, I’ll take my chances.”

As hard as it was, Sophia needed to be selfless, for the first time in her life. He was not safe here, especially whilst she was around. The Order did not care for her, and she had done this to herself-- she was the enemy now, even if she did not want to be. “Ross..” She sighed, closing her eyes momentarily, before looking back at him. “You’re not safe here---- I’m not a good person to associate with, I’m a prisoner here for what I’ve done.”

Ethan’s gaze immediately settled on the face of his former friend, huffing heavily as she signaled him over he began to make his way toward her. Once he was close and she spoke, his gaze fell to the ground. “Wow, you really have turned into quite the bitch haven’t you, Sophia?” Ethan scoffed, shaking his head as he tried to play as though he wasn’t phased by her comment.

It was not as if she was a cruel person, not particularly. It was more to do with her hatred for her prior friends. Ethan and Natalia had been her childhood friends long ago, and their blooming relationship was growing in front of her. She was spiteful of them, jealousy becoming stronger each day she became neglected by the two. It did not help that Sophia had fallen for Ethan a long time ago--- making her incredibly interested in hurting Natalia any way she could. So she lied--- plain and simple. “Not a bitch per say, just truthful.” She shrugged, an amused expression on her lips. “It’s not a lie, though is it? It all started when you cheated on Natalia---- oops.” She covered her mouth, thinking for a moment. “Or was it the other way around?” She thought, shrugging.

His eyes glanced to the men around her and felt unease about the whole situation. “No, I’m not going anywhere. I’m not leaving you.” His tone was almost as if he was stating the obvious. “What is going on? What aren’t you telling me?” This time his words came out more of a whisper.

Her brows furrowed, eyes turning to the guards, knowing too well they wouldn’t let her have a moment with him. She heaved a sigh, turning her eyes to fixate on him. “Ross, I can’t.” She sighed, lips pressing together in unease. “You’re going to have to trust me when I say you need to leave--- I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t necessary.” She pleaded with him, eyes full of worry, something of a rarity to her.

Cara listened to her sister’s words and frowned. It was true that she deserved the freedom that escape would give her. But, to go with them was just to put more blame on herself. “But – you said you weren’t one of them.”

She sighed, eyes rolling instinctively at her sister. She could see how she would assume it, but it hurt for her to do so. “I’m not one of them, but it doesn’t mean I’’m going to spend my entire life imprisoned. I had to try and find freedom.”

She had not expected to see him, not so soon after the battle between both sides. Sophia was not really a Death Eater, though knowing that she remained unsafe on either side, she pretended to go along with it. However, she resembled that kind of person, she was callous, and often cruel to those she supposedly cared about. As she spotted him, Sophia signalled him over with an frown on her lips--- though this was overplayed. “I’m sorry to hear about your girlfriend.” She told him, pouting her lips, “Another one bites the dust.” She spoke, in relation to his past relationships that never lasted.

The blonde looked taken aback at the cold attitude she was met with. “I did not realise you were a prisoner, my apologise.” She forced a smile to her face as she withdrew her hand, placing the small box she’d picked up into her pocket.

She rose her brows, an amused expression on her face. “It’s hard to mistake me for anything else surely.”

“Excusez-moi?” Elodie called out, quickening her pace to catch up with them. “You dropped this.” She told them holding out the object with a smile on her face. “It is yours, no?”

She looked the girl up and down brows narrowed in response. “Do is it look like they let me have any decent belongs on me?” She sighed, rolling her eyes before becoming impatient. “ comprenez-vous?” She asked sarcastically with a tut leaving her lips.

“I thought you were –” She frowned. What did she think? She’d thought all kinds of things about where Sophia had gone to, or what had happened to her. And now she was here again, and she hadn’t even tried to find her – to talk to her? She could feel the sadness welling within her. “Where have you been?”

She hoped Cara did not see the worst in her, and that apart of her would understand why she left her. She could not be a prisoner forever, and it appeared if she stayed much longer she would find herself dead. She had no other choice. “When the chaos broke out--- I took the chance I could to find freedom, just seems I was not so lucky.”

Cara heard her sister’s voice before she saw the brunette. She’d heard that the Death Eater’s had been recaptured, with a few extra added to the mix. But, she wasn’t sure whether Sophia was even with them or what had happened to her. She’d been so worried. “Sophia?” She questioned from behind her. The fact that she was back only confirmed her worries.

It was a familiar voice, one that normally sent a groan flying through her lips. Moments like this, it was normally for a scolding, to assume the worst, but it was surprisingly good for Sophia to hear her sisters voice, after everything. She welcomed her presence, and deep down she always did. “Cara.” She weakly smiled, knowing she would assume the worst.

“Sophia?” Of course he was surprised to see her. “What’s going on?” He questioned staring at the men behind her.

It was him; her eyes growing wide as she was reminded of everything, and instantly felt regret and fear as the men stood beside her. “Nothing--- nothing at all.” She denied, eyes moving to the males. “You need to go, I’m fine.”

“I should have expected it to be too good to be true.” The female huffed, glaring at the guard who held her captive. All she had wanted was freedom, not to be back where she had begun.
