Excuse her, she can't help herself. Big tears appear in her eyes as she looks upon him, the one shaped as sunlight before she moves forth, quickly tackling him to the ground of the ship. She sniffles, clinging to him tightly, certain to hurt him if he were just a normal human but, he is, indeed, rubber. She looks up at him, the big tears slipping down her cheeks. ❛❛ Happy birthday, Luffy ! You can have all my food today & my snacks & um, I'll bring you your present when I finish it. ❜❜ A nice kimono set, of course.
It was as if the sun itself had felt the gravity of today; Of the presence that had been simply basking within its warmth for the day; Of the one that had been born on this day, almost two decades ago, within a town that had been just as blessed by the celestial body high above. It was the ever-present rumbling of his stomach that had him raise from his spot upon the grassy deck, rubber arms stretching high above as something akin to a groan mixed with a sigh fell from his throat. "Didn't Sanji say somethin' about a birthday cake . . . " The voiced aloud thought comes tumbling from him soon after, inky eyes partially half-lidded due to lingering sleep.
There was not a bone within his body that particularly cared about days like these; It was more so the attention as well intent from the crew that he received that made it feel special. Just like back then within the forest with his brothers . . . A small smile played along his lips at the memory. Truly, if it weren't for his friends; Luffy wouldn't care — It would simply be another day lost among many others. His friends made it special. His friends made any day special.
Exactly one step was taken before he heard the quick tapping of some running along the deck and then — "HEY! WAI- OOF!" THUMP! A low sound; Thank the sea for his rubber body, as the impact didn't even elicit a single wince from Luffy. And yet, it still felt like the wind had been knocked from his chest, right along the lingering tiredness from before. The captain feels himself topple over faster than he can react; One hand moving to secure his hat atop his crown whilst the other wraps around the shorter woman. At once would laughter echo upon the Thousand Sunny, as radiant as the sun above whilst feeling Asagi cling to him so desperately. Round, charcoal colored irises blink up as she laid atop him; Surprise and confusion mixing. "Eh? You're cryin'? What happened?"
A couple of blinks later, as he didn't really seem to indicate wanting to move whilst remaining sprawled upon deck; It truly was second nature, at this point. The big tears that pool and cascade down her cheeks like a waterfall make him momentarily freeze, yet her words thaw him out.
The ship seemed to fall silent for a second.
" . . . All of your food?"
The voice in which he spoke sounded all too serious, gaze momentarily obscured by the shadows cast by his hat. Said demeanor would only last for a split moment before it was disrupted by his lips quirking into a large smile; That signature radiance, showing off both rows of pearly whites as it seemingly grew in warmth. "WOOOOOO!!" With no problem at all would he heave himself up; The shorter woman tightly wrapped in his arms as he pulled her up as well. The captain's face had truly lit up like the sun itself.
"You're really givin' me ALL of it?! Even the snacks?!" It truly was the most phenomenal gift of them all; Inky gaze growing alight like little stars dancing within his gaze, right as he pulled her against his own chest, reciprocating the embrace with matched strength. "Shishishi!~" The chuckle sounds all too mischievous as it rolls off his tongue with his next exclaim, releasing her slightly from his grip; Though, not entirely as his large hands remained upon her shoulder. Gaze fluttered close to dark crescents as his grin would remain like the sun within the sky. "You're the best, Asagi !! The best !!"
Just right then would the cook's familiar voice ring upon deck, leaving the Strawhat to turn; Smile never fading, perhaps even widening if possible, upon the mention of food being ready. "This is goin' to be the best birthday ever!" He chuckled as he tugged Asagi along, his hand never leaving her side. "Let's go try the birthday cake together! Sanji's gonna kick me if I don't share that, y'know? And then ya can give me the gift sometime, 'kay?" He was already dragging her along; There was simply no stopping the sun! Especially not on his day, surrounded by those he loved the most.
