WildeHopps risking their lives for each other
Everyone talks about how Nick is willing to die for Judy, which is certainly a huge deal: he jumped into the water tube knowing he could drown too but was only concerned about HER running out of air…going onto the edge of the ice to get the anti-venom to Gary knowing it won’t hold his weight… Nick being protective of Judy in general.
Also, Nick couldn’t overpower Pawbert when the lynx was trying to kill him because he thought Judy was gone - but the second Nick realized there was a chance he could save her, he kicked Pawbert off like he was nothing. Because Nick finally had a purpose, a reason to fight.
Let’s also talk about the other perspective: Judy saving Nick.
People have pointed out ‘Gary did all the work’, he’s the one who essentially saved Nick. Which is true, but these points are overlooked:
When Judy was hit with the venom, her concern wasn’t that she was going to die - it was that she couldn’t get to Nick. She only says ‘I can’t move’ and then ‘He’s gonna… Nick’s gonna [die]’. And, despite being filled with poison that paralyzed Nibbles AND tough Chief Bogo, Judy managed some movement because she was so desperate to save Nick.
Then, when Gary warms up and says to Judy, ‘we’re gonna save you’, she has no reaction - but when he says ‘and save your friend’, she smiles a bit despite being nearly unconscious.
Then, the second she was revived, Judy busted through two hippos, a reinforced door, and a rhino before throwing herself off the balcony. She didn’t check if Gary or anyone was following to help. She could’ve easily fallen to her death along with Nick, but there was no hesitation.
In that moment, Judy truly realized how much Nick means to her, as she was always so focused on her job she never thought of losing him - until she had no choice but to think about it.
Yes, you could argue she also risked her life when she pushed Pawbert and Gary out of the path of Hoggbottom’s dart, but that was a bit different: that was her ‘bunny-hero-complex’ and sense of duty / protecting people as cop; in the slow-mo, she looks worried about the dart hitting her, plus there’s a chance it would’ve missed.
Whereas with Nick, she showed no concern about her own well-being, she 100% would’ve fallen off the balcony, and she saved him because she realized she can’t live without him.
Neither could bear to say they thought the other was dead/going to die😭
-PS. Well, it’s official: I am WAY too invested in this movie and its primary ship😂
