Heavy rains and gusty winds in the wake of cyclone Tauktae affected Mumbai in many ways. According to reports, several low lying areas witnessed water-logging, while suburban train services on Central and Western Railways were also affected.
During the monsoon season in Mumbai, in the low lying areas, waterlogging is often witnessed which poses a risk with regards to several contagious diseases. In particular, amidst emergencies, people who walk in stagnant water due to the rains are at risk of leptospirosis.
The Ministry of Civic Aviation recently announced that the international air travel will no longer be possible without a QR code on the coronavirus (COVID-19) report. As per the revised guidelines, this new rule will be applicable to international passengers from May 22, 2021.
Cyclone Tauktae which hit the city of Mumbai and other districts recently has caused several damages adding to the troubles for the civic bodies. As per reports, the cyclone uprooted many trees in Mumbai and some of them were marked as exotic trees.
Mayor of Mumbai, Kishori Pednekar, and MP from North Mumbai, Gopal Shetty, on Thursday, May 20, 2021, inaugurated a drive-in vaccination center for senior citizens. The event was organised in the presence of local MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar at Grovel Shopping Mall in Kandivali East.
